Round Up Post

Thursday, January 9th, 2014

Let’s start with a few firearm/RKBA articles.

James Craig became the Detroit Police Chief last summer.  Before that he spent decades working in the Los Angeles Police Department before becoming the Chief of Police in Portland, Maine.  In LA, pretty much the only people with firearms are cops and violent criminals.  The restrictive, so-called “gun control” laws haven’t really slowed down the rate criminals can obtain firearms.  In Portland, Maine, firearm ownership among the law abiding is pretty common.  Another difference is the violent crime rate.  High in LA, low in Portland.  Chief Craig’s advice for reducing crime in Detroit (which approaches Robocop levels), is more firearms in the hands of law abiding citizens. Here is one of multiple studies that back Chief Craig’s advice.

San Francisco is pretty diverse, it even has pro-Second Amendment liberal democrats.  These folks are pretty far left wackos despite this one gleam of sanity in the world view.  Hell, they don’t like our Dear Leader because he’s “too conservative” in their view.  Probably upset he hasn’t rounded up Republicans and shipped them off to death re-education camps yet.

Here is a question that many law abiding citizens who have actually read the Constitution ask themselves, “My next AR, build or buy?”

Can’t leave the epic Charlie Fox known as Obamacare off the list.  “Glitches” in the bloody website are still rampant, leaving many without coverage.  Keep in mind, that in the time it took the Obama administration to build a really crappy website, America build almost 100 aircraft carriers during WWII.  Plus the aircraft for the carriers, and the support vessels, and trained the crews.

For your reference when dealing with moonbats and Obama cultists8 Things Liberals Do to Avoid Having an Honest Debate.

Let’s wrap up with a look at how the Obama Economy is working for America.  “34%: The unemployment rate for Americans ages 16-17. The unemployment rate for teenage Hispanic Americans is 48%, and the rate for teenage Black Americans is 60%.”  Ya, just how is that hopey-changey thing workin’ for ya?

Monday Round Up

Monday, September 23rd, 2013

In the poster city for long term democrat reign, Detroit residents complain that packs of dogs terrorize citizens subjects.

The niece of “Plugs” Biden, i.e. the idiot a heartbeat from the Oval Office, is an addict and she blames Uncle Joe.

Far left extremist moonbat Nancy Pelosi, the so-called “Leader” of the House democrats, claims there is nothing left to cut from the federal budget.

First off, there hasn’t been a federal budget passed since George W. Bush was President.  Second, she’s an idiot.  Let’s start a short list of stuff and can be easily cut and will benefit the American taxpayer.

  1. The $2.2 billion Obamaphone program
  2. Supplying arms and funding to known terrorist groups in Syria
  3. The Department of Education
  4. Obamacare
  5. Fraud and Waste in the federal food stamps program
  6. Most, if not all, of the Department of Labor

The IRS really did have a ‘hit list’ that targeted conservative groups.  This can count as our Dear Leader keeping at least one of his promises.

Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan is no fan of Barack Hussein Obama’s Tax, Barrow, and Spend policies.

File under: There is nothing quite as intolerant and closed minded as a “tolerant and open minded liberal.”

Violent online game lets players murder NRA officials by shooting them. It’s all the rage with the peace loving left who want to take firearms from the law abiding by force.

Round Up Post

Monday, August 19th, 2013

Let’s start the fun with the CDC Study Ordered by our Dear Leader, Barack Hussein Obama, that Contradicts White House Anti-gun Narrative. Don’t expect reality to get in way of their “progressive” political agenda this time either.

BHO’s former Sec. of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton yelled at a congressman in a briefing just after the Benghazi terror attack for calling it a terror attack.  Again, reality didn’t fit the Obama political agenda, so reality had to be denied.

While Barack Hussein Obama tries to spin away his very real scandals by calling them “phony,” Jim O’Sullivan correctly identifies Obama’s so called “economic recovery” as the real phony.

What isn’t “phony” about the Obama economy is “Slow GDP growth, lagging job creation, constricted free markets, ballooning deficits and debt, growing and counterproductive regulation, crippling taxation, and the penalization of small business…”

On the topic of the Obama economy, the CBO reports that our Dear Leader broke a new record, four years of federal deficit over $1 trillion. That is a trillion dollar plus deficit for each of the first four years of his “occupy the White House” golf tour.  The current US debt is $16.9 Trillion and growing.

Forbes reports that the German Green Energy Bluster Running Out Of Wind.  It seems that unreliable wind produced energy can’t compete without massive government subsidies. Combine that with their policy of shutting down carbon neutral nuclear power plants that deliver steady energy at a lower cost than the very expensive wind turbines, and you have rapidly rising energy costs and cold German winter on the way.

No surprise here, but Hillary Rodham Clinton is throwing Tony Weiner under the bus for his sex scandal.  Mentioning her husband’s sex scandals would be in bad taste, so ya, he had a lot of them.  HRC responded to those by attacking the women who dared bring up her husband’s sexual harassment.  Yup, if it wasn’t for double standards, democrats would have no standards.

7 dead, 32 other shot in “gun control” paradise of Chicago

Sunday, June 16th, 2013

Chicago, IL. Political birthplace of our Dear Leader, Barack Hussein Obama, and under strict democrat rule for decades.

Also home to some of the most draconian “gun control” laws in the country.

The toll for the 2013 Father’s Day weekend: 7 dead and 32 others shot.

This type of violent crime is all too common in places where leftists get their way on disarming law abiding citizens.

Quote of the Day

Thursday, June 6th, 2013

“25 states allow anyone to buy a gun, strap it on, and walk down the street with no permit of any kind: some says it’s crazy. However, four out of five US murders are committed in the other half of the country: So who’s crazy?”

Quote of the Day

Friday, May 10th, 2013

“ I’ve come to realize after the Sandy Hook shooting that the reason we can’t have a rational gun debate is because the anti-gun side pre-supposes that their pro-gun opponents must first accept that guns are bad in order to have a discussion about guns in the first place. Before we even start the conversation, we’re the bad guys and we have to admit it. Without accepting that guns are bad and supplicating themselves to the anti-gunner, the pro-gunner can’t get a word in edgewise, and is quickly reduced to being called a murderer, or a low, immoral and horrible human being. You might think that’s hyperbole too, but I’ve experienced it personally from people I considered friends until recently. . . . How can we ‘gun people’ honestly be expected to come to the table with anti-gunners when anti-gunners are willfully stupid about guns, and openly hate, despise and ridicule those of us who own them? There must first be respect and trust — even just a little — before there can be even the beginnings of legitimate discussion of the issue.”

The Hypocrisy of the Left Knows No Bounds

Thursday, May 2nd, 2013

I saw a leftist ranting on Facebook ranting because a firearm retailer was raffling off a semi-automatic rifle.

Now he called this popular firearm an “assault rifle.” The leftist in question is actually fairly intelligent and well educated. Calling a semi-automatic rifle an “assault rifle” is a sign of ignorance or a deliberate lie committed to create confusion in order to promote an extremist anti-civil rights political agenda. I’ll let you draw your own conclusion in this case.

The same leftist is still ranting about the murders committed in Newtown, committed by a mentally ill adult who violated multiple existing laws in order to obtain firearms he couldn’t obtain legally. When asked about the over three hundred Mexicans killed by semi-automatic rifles supplied to Mexican drug cartels by President Obama’s “Fast & Furious” illegal gun running program, he responded that he “didn’t care.” He also doesn’t care that as many children are killed in drug gang related firearm violence in Chicago every year as were slain in Newtown. Is it because the children in Newtown were mostly White, while the three hundred Mexicans were mostly had brown colored skin and the children in Chicago had mostly black colored skin? Given the left’s history of institutional racism, it would not be surprising. It could also be that his so called “outrage” is politically motivated. Over three hundred Mexicans murdered by Obama’s illegal gun running program or dozens of children killed in Obama’s home town of Chicago doesn’t promote his far left extremist agenda. So he ignores them and repeats leftist talking points instead of engaging in rational debate. I’ll let you draw your own conclusion in this case.

Quote of the Day

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

“Most of the rhetoric from the anti-gun fringe in the past few months is coming from babbling idiots who don’t know the difference between a rifle stock and a penny stock. It is impossible to craft “sensible” legislation regarding a topic about which one has no knowledge whatsoever.”

HT to Mr. Reynolds for this spot on bit of truth.

3D Printer Update

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

Last time I went on about 3D Printers was back in October 2008.  Time for an update.

There are more options out there than the RepRapEngadet has a “consumers guide” to 3D printers.

What I found interesting is that there are some sub $1,000 models.  Granted, most of those are Kickstarter projects, but it shows that these things are getting some traction in the geek hobby market.

That expanding base also means a greater number of programmed designs as people share their experiments.

One that is sure to cause a stir is Defense Distributed’s plan to design a 3D printable firearm.  They have designed, and printed an AR-15 lower.  They have put over 600 rounds though a firearm using that printed lower in a single day.  They claim that it should be able to handle a 1,000 rounds.

The AR-15 was a good choice.  It is one of the most popular civilian firearms in the US, and as Gun Geeks will tell you, it’s the general purpose PC of firearms.   It is very modular, with the ability to change stocks and uppers easily. It also has a large market of add on accessories, including pink plastic parts for the female (or male who just likes pink) shooters.

The inter-changeable upper (which includes the barrel) is key.  You can convert your .223 AR-15 to 5.55mm NATO, .308 Winchester, .22 LR or even .50 Beowulf.  All the same firearm by current US regulations.

On the lower end of the 3D printing scale, is the EDoodler.  A hand held devices that extrudes a steam of heated material that you can create whole pieces or parts of a larger object.  This is another Kickstarter project which blew past its original goal of $30,000  pretty fast.  They have pledges of over $2 million and still have three weeks to go for fundraising.

Going even lower end, you have InstaMorph.  I know people who swear by this stuff for really Q&D projects.  You heat the stuff up and then are able to mold it.  When it cools, it hardens.  Kinda like a gateway drug for 3D printing.

Update: Just how versatile is the AR-15 you ask, here is an upper designed for black powder use! There is even a crossbow upper.

Quote of the Day

Sunday, January 27th, 2013

“Assault weapons… are a new topic. The weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons — anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun — can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.”
