Morning roundup

The LA Times makes an interesting observation about our Dear Leader

“[The Obama] administration has pursued a quiet but malicious campaign against the news media and their sources, more aggressively attacking those who ferret out confidential information than even the George W. Bush administration did”

American Socialists Release Names of 70 Congressional Democrats in Their Ranks.

The New York Post notes:

In a move of stunning hypocrisy, the United Federation of Teachers axed one of its longtime employees — for trying to unionize the powerful labor organization’s own workers, it was charged yesterday.

Comparing Barry’s view to reality.

First, our Dear leader claims that worst of the recession that started when democrats took over congress is over.

Hmmm…let’s see, the “official” unemployment rate is still 9.5% and real unemployment is still in the 15% range.

New unemployment claims have hit a six month high, and unemployment among the young is breaking new records under the economic policies of democrat control of both Congress and the White House. Policies that have added another $165 billion to the deficit in the month of July alone.

Let’s not forget the stock market, which seems stalled around 10K.

Let’s review the facts here, when the Republicans controlled both Congress and the White House, unemployment was under 5% for most of the time and not much over the rest, and the Dow was soaring over 13K.

When Barry made that idiotic statement about not letting the Republicans have the keys to car back, he was really hoping that most American voters can’t remember anything prior to 2007.

Why won’t President Obama support the ruling against California’s Prop 8?

Just to recap, Prop 8 was were the citizens of California exercised their civil rights and voted to limit civil marriages (i.e. the ones you get a Marriage License  for) to heterosexual couples.    A judge recently over overturned the will of the California people and ruled that the state must give out marriage licenses to same sex couples as well.

This is a big win to a large chunk of the President’s base (and a win for the small government Libertarians who are most definitely not his base).  So why isn’t our Dear Leader’s administration actively supporting this ruling and supporting the victory of their supporters?

As much as I, and other Libertarians, would like to take credit for it, I really don’t think this is a small government/big government thing for our Dear Leader.  It probably has more to do with the values he learned while attending a homophobic, racist church for 20 years.  I’m willing to bet that Barry and his advisors know that actively supporting homosexual rights here in America would run counter to their goal of “out reach” to the Muslim world.

No matter what his reasoning, his supporters are correctly calling him out on this matter, and they deserve an honest answer.

Here are some highlights of the news you probably won’t hear on MSNBC…

A federal judge shot down the Obama Justice Department’s pre-emption argument in their lawsuit against the state of Arizona.

Congressman Charles Rangel (democrat – NY) has finally been charged with multiple ethics violations by the bipartisan House Ethics Committee

Anita MonCrief to File FEC Charges Against Obama Administration

Jim Hoft delivers a dose of reality about Obama and the congressional democrats effect on  the economy

Barack Obama is the worst president in history on job creation–
According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. shed 2.3 million jobs since February 2009, Obama’s first full month in office. Since Obama’s election in 2008, the US economy has shed 4.4 million jobs. That’s worse than Herbert Hoover.

The US economy lost another 125,000 jobs in June. Just ask Alvin Greene.

Barack Obama’s Keynesian policies have failed miserably. Democrats blew a Trillion dollars on a failed stimulus bill and all they managed to do was triple the national deficit in one year.

Even the far left extremists on “Journolist” hate Keith Olbermann.

Quote of day

Today’s quote comes from democrat President John F. Kennedy in 1962:

“It is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high and tax revenues are too low and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now … Cutting taxes now is not to incur a budget deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous, expanding economy which can bring a budget surplus.”

True then and true now. So why does President Obama and the congressional democrats want to raise taxes during a recession?

Vice-President Biden and that whole Culture of Corruption thing.

Politico reports:

The Federal Election Commission has penalized Vice President Joe Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign $219,000 for accepting over-the-limit contributions and a discounted flight on a jet owned by a New York hedge fund. His campaign also was charged with sloppy record-keeping.

Sadly, I’m not surprised.

Obama’s track record

Jeff Miller has made a list of some of our Dear Leader’s promises and how he has followed up on them.

1. He campaigned against an insurance mandate and then gave us one.

2. He promised he wouldn’t hire lobbyists, and then hired at least 40 of them.

3. He promised to release logs of meetings between his staff and lobbyists, and then his staff started meeting across the street with lobbyists so it wouldn’t be logged.

4. He promised not to raise any taxes on families that make under $250,000, and then raised several taxes that apply to them.

5. He promised to post all bills on the internet for five days before he would sign them, and he’s broken this promise with nearly every bill he’s signed.

6. He promised not to tax health care benefits, and then signed a law that taxes health care benefits.

7. He promised to get us out of Iraq; not happening.

8. He promised to close Guantanamo; not happening.

9. He lied about the cost of his health care plan.

10. He promised to televise the health care negotiations, and didn’t.

11. He promised to veto all legislation with earmarks; he hasn’t.

12. He has bragged about continuing the Bush treatment of detainees.

13. He promised transparency and then prosecuted leakers.  (Plus, remember this?)

14. He lied about the public option.  And about a ton of other stuff.

15. Remembering signing statements?  Obama assumes you don’t.

16. Don’t ask, don’t tell?  Still in place.

And then there’s the other stuff, the silly and the sad, like the commissionsembarrassing issues of foreign etiquettelambasting tax breaks he voted forbribing people with job offers, bemoaning the iPod that he himself uses, his habitual invocation of straw men, his destruction of jobswasted moneythe cash-for-clunkers/housing-credit idiocy, the foreclosure plan folly, the fake fiscal restraintunemployment and the stimulus bill, and the fact that Obama’s policies redistribute wealth from poor to rich.

President Obama is not just a mediocre president; he’s not just a bad president.  President Obama is a terrible president.  He is a terrible president by any standard, but certainly by his own.  We were promised great things, and instead, we got just another lousy politician.

The democrat’s Culture of Corruption marches on

This time it’s democrat Congressman Greg Meeks of New York.

Queens Rep. Gregory Meeks finally fessed up Friday night about why he decided to wait three years to pay back a $40,000 secret loan.

The Queens Democrat had been refusing to explain why he made no payments on the loan from Ahmad, a local businessman, until the FBI showed up.

He also did not disclose the loan on House documents in 2007 and 2008, as required.

Remember kids, democrat Speaker of the House “San Fran Nan” Pelosi said she would run the most ethical congress, evah!

Two opposing views

Compare and contrast.   First Mort Zuckerman points out that our Dear Leader is is “anti-business.”

Of course, the talking heads at MSNBC, Mika Brzezinski and John Heilmann, were shocked by this. They certainly haven’t gotten that message from the instructions they get sent directly to their Crackberrys by the Obama White House.

Let us review the facts of the situation, after a year and half of our Dear Leader and the democrats controlling both both houses of Congress.

The facts of the matter are clearly obvious, as well as the sad truth that the MSNBC talking heads have to toe the Obama regime party line in order to keep their jobs.
