Corrupt democrat Leland Yee in the News again

Via Breitbart comes this report:

California State Senator Leland Yee, who has been charged with wire fraud and conspiring to import firearms, may be facing new charges from the federal government.  Although U.S. Attorney Susan Badger said that the government “is anxious to start discovery,” the government stated that there will be additional charges in a superseding indictment.

Leland Yee, a prominent democrat, was the odds on favorite to win the Secretary of State race.

Along with many other democrats, Lee is currently charged with multiple counts of corruption. Leland Yee was also charged with illegal gun running.  The anti-civil rights activist wanted to disarm the law abiding, while supplying fully automatic weapons and shoulder fired missiles, purchased from Islamic terrorists, to his friends in the Tong.

Leland Yee, the face of the modern democrat party

If you depended on the MSM for your news, you probably never heard of Leland Yee.   OK, he was on Piers Morgan’s show a lot, but given the ratings his recently cancelled CNN show had, I’ll stand by my statement. Leland Yee is a California State Senator, and like the majority of that body, a democrat. He was a very prominent and influential member of the California democrat party.  He was running for the position of Secretary of State, and was considered a ‘shoe in’ for the position.  He was also one of the state senate’s most vocal proponents for massive restrictions of the Constitutional rights of Californians.

Then he was arrested, along with numerous other democrat politicians, on charges of fraud and corruption. Leland Yee had an additional charge brought against him, gun running.  This prominent California democrat, who was very vocal in his stance that law abiding citizens had no rights to legally own firearms, was trying to smuggle fully automatic firearms and shoulder fired missiles from Islamic terrorists, which he was then going to give to his contacts in the Tong (Chinese organized crime).

While this does look like typical leftist hypocrisy, Leland Yee’s actions are actually very much in the tradition of the democrat party.  Remember that that the very first “gun control” laws in the United States were passed by democrats in southern states, right after the Civil War ended.  The democrats didn’t like the new citizens, which they still considered property, shooting back, when the democrats para-military wing came to burn down their homes and hang them.

Mr. Yee wanted the law abiding citizens to be disarmed, while his friends the Tong had the firepower to destroy armored police vehicles.  Mr. Yee’s actions were keeping with the established traditions of the democrat party.  No wonder he was so popular with the heavily democrat California electorate.

Popular Mechanics has a story entitled:Who’s Packing What: The Weapons in the Leland Yee Scandal. Here is bit of information that shouldn’t be a spoiler. Yee didn’t want law abiding citizens to own any of the weapons listed in that article.

Newsbusters points out how MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow skipped mentioning the Gun Running charges and how John Stewart busted her for it.

Found this delicious bit of spot on snark online:

In 2006, the Brady Campaign named Leland Yee [on their] Gun Violence Prevention Honor Roll.

Perhaps they should have done a background check first.

Yup, other anti-Civil Rights groups are crying because one of their shining stars was caught trying to smuggle massively illegal weapons from Islamic terrorists in order to sell to his Tong buddies.  Wah!

Victor David Hanson has an excellent slide show of a democrat Rogues Gallery, that includes Leland Yee.

One of the other arrested gun runners picked up with Yee, who happens to be black and a democrat, is of course, playing the race card.

Leftist bias vs. reality

I was listening to a tech podcast where a couple of California were making fun of Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Let’s compare Texas under the leadership of Gov. Perry to California under Governor Moonbeam.

Let’s start with unemployment for January 2013

Texas: 6.3%

California: 9.8%

The federal U3 rate for January was 7.9%

So Texas was under the national rate by 1.3% while California was over the national rate by 1.9%

Take a look at job growth in Texas vs. California, and population shifts.  The people California needs to pay its criminally high tax rates are leaving California.  One of the more popular destinations of those fleeing Governor Moonbeam’s socialist paradise is Texas.

It’s clear that the tech reporters in question were laughing based on their leftist political bias, and not economic reality.

“For a century or so, guided by brilliant private sector leadership, California was a beacon to the world, a land of opportunity such as never had existed in human history. Unimaginable wealth was created. Yet it required only 40 years of liberal governance to bring the whole thing crashing down. Today, California is the most spectacular failure of our time. Its government is broke. Productive citizens have been fleeing for some years now, selling their homes at inflated prices (until recently) and moving to Colorado, Arizona, Texas and even Minnesota, like one of my neighbors. The results of California’s improvident liberalism have been tragically easy to predict: absurd public sector wage and benefit packages, a declining tax base, surging welfare enrollment, falling economic production, ever-increasing deficits. Soon, California politicians will be looking to less glamorous states for bailout money. Things have now devolved to the point where California leads the nation in poverty.”

Why won’t President Obama support the ruling against California’s Prop 8?

Just to recap, Prop 8 was were the citizens of California exercised their civil rights and voted to limit civil marriages (i.e. the ones you get a Marriage License  for) to heterosexual couples.    A judge recently over overturned the will of the California people and ruled that the state must give out marriage licenses to same sex couples as well.

This is a big win to a large chunk of the President’s base (and a win for the small government Libertarians who are most definitely not his base).  So why isn’t our Dear Leader’s administration actively supporting this ruling and supporting the victory of their supporters?

As much as I, and other Libertarians, would like to take credit for it, I really don’t think this is a small government/big government thing for our Dear Leader.  It probably has more to do with the values he learned while attending a homophobic, racist church for 20 years.  I’m willing to bet that Barry and his advisors know that actively supporting homosexual rights here in America would run counter to their goal of “out reach” to the Muslim world.

No matter what his reasoning, his supporters are correctly calling him out on this matter, and they deserve an honest answer.

Old tolerance; allowing others a differing point of view.
New “Liberal” tolerance; declaring certain views tolerant and others not, then refusing to allow certain views to be stated because one has already declared them intolerant (normally without making any attempt to understand them).

“Wherever there is a jackboot stomping on a human face there will be a well-heeled Western liberal to explain that the face does, after all, enjoy free health care and 100 percent literacy.” — John Derbyshire

“At the heart of every liberal program lies the idea that we are entitled to something just because we have a heartbeat. Liberals tell us that we are entitled to these things not because we’ve earned them, worked for them, or sacrificed for them; we are entitled to them because we have a pulse. … Like the grasshopper in Aesop’s fable, liberals believe that the government owes them a living. It exists to meet their every need, regardless of their own efforts, or lack thereof.” — Rich Hailey

“You know, a huge drain on California’s economy is the illegal immigrants. We need to close the borders.” — Larry Flynt, Hustler publisher and CA democrat gubernatorial candidate

“Well, if I use Hispanic culture I get corruption and really good salsa music. If I use Chinese culture I get rigid thinking and decent Szechwan. If I use Islamic culture I get…not damned much of anything. And ditto for Africa although at least the rhythm is good and you can dance to it. But if I use Western European Culture I get industry, higher standards of living, longer lifespans and a generally “happier” society. Damn, I think I’ll just have to go with WesternCiv even if I do have to put up with the Lutherans.” — John Ringo

“Political Correctness is inverted McCarthyism.” — Dennis Miller

“[moveon.org] is about lies and a distortion of history.” — Simon Wiesenthal Center

“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.” — HL Mencken.

Mean while, in California, state regulations kill 3.8 Million jobs

Yup, burdensome and excessive state regulations have cost the California economy 3.8 million jobs in the small business  market.

That’s right folks, the small businesses that employ most of the people. The small businesses that are competely unrepresented on our Dear Leader‘s so-called “economic team.”

This helps explains California’s current unemployment rate of 12.2%.

This is the result of the far left policies of the California legislature. If it wasn’t for the Governator acting as a rational brake on their policies, California would be flirting with Michigan’s 15.2% unemployment rate.
