Catching up

Monday, July 13th, 2015

Catching up on a bunch of stuff that caught my eye on the Interwebs.

Poll data shows that liberals are less patriotic.  No surprise here.

In Obamerica, the DHS considers Americans who believe in the civil rights of the individual more dangerous than Islamofascists that actually kill Americans.

RESEARCHER REAFFIRMS: AT LEAST 760,000 DEFENSIVE GUN USES A YEAR.  “Gun Control” fanatics are in denial of the settled science.

The Obama  White House Says They Will Not Release IRS Documents On Tea Party Targeting…   Y’all know that the whole “most transparent administration ever” thing was just another lie Obama told to get the useful idiots to vote for him.  This is just another example of his flipping off the American people.

What is the difference between fascism and progressive ideology? If you don’t know the answer to this, you can probably blame a public school teacher who identifies as a progressive.  Both “are very hostile to individualism, especially in the field of economics.”

Happy Lenin’s Birthday!

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015

Yup, it’s time for the annual Lenin’s Birthday post!

For those of you coming in late to the party, Earth Day” is on Lenin’s Birthday.  Not a coincidence, given that the “founder” of Earth Day was much more a “Watermelon” than an actual environmentalist. Watermelon: Thin layer of green of the outside, red to the core.

Let’s review the predictions from the very first so called “Earth Day” back in 1970.

“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” — George Wald, Harvard Biologist

“Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“By…[1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” — Denis Hayes, chief organizer for Earth Day

“Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.” — Peter Gunter, professor, North Texas State University

“Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….” — Life Magazine, January 1970

“At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

“Air pollution…is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

Ok, Ehrlich was sorta right on this, if you restrict his predictions to modern Communist China, where they are showing the typical communist/socialist contempt for the environment.

“By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate…that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, `Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, `I am very sorry, there isn’t any.’” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

Now we get to my personal favorite, although probably not Al Gore‘s…
“The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years,” he declared. “If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

2014 Update: Wired Magazine publishes this article: Renewables Aren’t Enough. Clean Coal Is the Future

It wouldn’t be Lenin’s Birthday with out this clip of the late George Carlin discussing “Saving the Planet.”

Round Up Post

Sunday, March 22nd, 2015

First off is a case of far left extremist (in this case a “social justice warrior”) putting up “Whites Only” stickers around Austin, TX.  He did to show how conservatives are “racists” and stuff.  All too often, cases of “hate crimes” like this are perpetrated by “progressives” in order to make reality match their extremist agenda.   HT to Leslie Bates for this one.

Next, the “most transparent administration ever” has announced that the IRS isn’t going to release any documents concerning their well documented targeting of conservative political groups.  In Obamamerica, the Freedom of Speech protections of the First Amendment only applies to speech our Dear Leader approves of.

The National Review points out that the Obama administration and Congressional democrats  “are practically praying for a Christian terrorist.”   They keep turning up to be Muslims though…

A leftist gets mugged by reality

Tuesday, February 17th, 2015

I’ve often said that reality is not a strong point of the left.  Their narrative is much more important to them than actual facts.

This refusal to accept reality can produce painful results.  Today’s example (by way of Moe Lane & the Instapundit)

tweet of the day

It was pointed out, repeatedly, by people who actually read the so-called “Affordable Care Act”, that it was a disaster waiting to happen.  People were going to lose coverage, prices would go up, and access to actual affordable health care would decline.

Rather than face these facts that inconveniently disagreed with their socialist narrative, the collective left called those who actually read the bill, “racists,” which was certainly easier than reading the bill for themselves.

Now, not only does this leftist idiot not have health care coverage, she is going to get fined by the government she helped to elect, for not having it.  In addition, she inflicted this disaster of a law on millions of Americans who didn’t want it.

The decline of the democrat party

Sunday, October 26th, 2014

Here is a clear example of a decline in economic literacy to start with.

In the early sixties, you had the head of the democrat party saying things like:

“…an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough jobs or enough profits.” — President John F Kennedy

Here in the early 21st Century, we have a former, and probably future democrat candidate for President spouting nonsense like this:

“Don’t let anybody tell you that it’s corporations and business that create jobs.” — Former Obama Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton

Really, she said that.  What’s worse is the moonbats who actually believe this nonsense.

Let’s go to the video.

It’s not just HRC, back in 2010, another democrat was stumped by the question, “How do you create a job?”

Quote of the Day

Tuesday, August 12th, 2014

“…the sheer “I won” in-your-face immaturity of the Obamaites — remember the “Hey, Hey, Goodbye” chant to Bush at the inauguration — ensured that people would be angrier than normal. And they did that on purpose because a sharply divided nation suited them politically. Now Ron Fournier wonders if Americans would rally behind Obama after another 9/11 the way we rallied behind Bush, and I think the answer is no — because Obama has spent his entire time in office flicking boogers at half the country.

As I’ve said before, the reason why presidents traditionally act “presidential” isn’t because they’re stiffly formal, it’s because acting presidential, rather than purely political, lets you appeal to the whole country in ways that a pure partisan can’t. Obama doesn’t care, and we may very well pay for that, too. But elections have consequences, and when you elect a guy like Obama, the consequences are bad ones.”

A shining example of a modern progressive congressional democrat

Monday, August 11th, 2014

As reported recently,  democrat congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee stated, on the floor of the House, that the democrats never tried to impeach President G. W Bush, despite her being a co-sponsor a bill the democrat controlled House passed to impeach President Bush.

The staff of democrat congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee then not only refused to answer a reporter’s questions about her claim and her sponsorship of the bill, they threatened him with an IRS audit. Not exactly what you expect from a member of the “Peoples’ House” dedicated to Constitutional principles, like the First Amendment. Pretty typical for a modern, so called “progressive” democrat though.

On the other hand, you can understand why her staff is so protective of their meal ticket. SJL appears to be out to unseat current Vice-President Joe “Plugs” Biden as the gaffe master of Washington, D.C..

Her previous deviations from reality include: While observing images from a Mars Rover at the JPL, asking if the rover would pass by where Neil Armstrong planted the American flag; and giving an impassioned speech on the House floor describing how North and South Vietnam are able to work together and how that should be an inspiration to us as well.

For that Mars/Luna mix up, she was voting on the NASA budget at the time. No wonder we have to outsource getting our Astronauts in and out orbit to the Russians.

Another look at the numbers

Tuesday, July 29th, 2014

When you point out that the current federal debt is $17.6 Trillion and climbing, far left democrat extremists are quick to point out that the deficit is down.

Which is true, but note that they don’t point out the deficit reduction is from a peak during Obama’s reign, but up from the time he took office.

Let’s look at the actual numbers.

The current federal deficit is $572.1 billion, with a federal tax revenue of $2.9 trillion. So Barry’s handling of the federal government is to spend over a half trillion dollars than he is taking in, even with the federal tax revenue at record high levels.

So what is that $572.1 trillion dollar deficit down from?

Let’s look at the federal deficit in 2012, after several years of Barry’s firm fiscal hand. it was at $1.1 Trillion. The  federal tax income was $2.4 trillion. Do the math here kids. Our Dear Leader hasn’t reduced spending, he has jacked taxes through the roof.  The deficit is down about $400 billion, and increase in federal tax income is up $500 million.  So he has also increased federal spending instead of paying down the $17.6 trillion federal debt.

Let’s go back to 2008, near the end of two terms of President George W. Bush. The federal deficit was $408.1 Billion with a federal tax income of $2.5 trillion. Note that the deficit was in fact lower than it is currently, and that is with $400 billion less in federal tax revenue.

So when a democrat claims that the deficit is down, that person is is in fact, deliberately lying by omission. The federal deficit under Obama has gone up, despite squeezing nearly a additional half a trillion dollars out of the pockets of tax paying US citizens in an economy that can be politely described as “stagnant” at best.

Round Up Post

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014

Let’s start with a couple of RKBA related stories.  The city of Chicago, were over 40 people shot and four killed last weekend, has to pay the NRA nearly $1 million in legal fees.  A recent study shows that violent crime has gone down as conceal carry permits have been issued to more law abiding Americans.  This makes sense to anyone capable of rational thought and basic logic.  It makes moonbats go bat shit crazy though, since it doesn’t fit their far left extremist agenda.

Peggy Johnson, who famously said back in 2008 that if our Dear Leader was elected, she wouldn’t have to worry about paying her mortgage or putting gas in her car, has been hit with reality.

The IRS admits that they scrubbed Lois Learner’s hard drive clean back in 2011.

A federal judge has tossed out a Obama administration request to have law suits against the IRS dropped.  Legal action by nearly a dozen Tea Party groups targeted by the IRS can go forward.  Expect more hard drive “crashes”.

The Hypocrisy is getting pretty damn thick

Tuesday, June 24th, 2014

Joe nails it. If the IRS targeting of specific political groups happened under a Republican administration, it would be on the front page of the NY Times for weeks. As one of his guests puts it, “Under a Republican, IRS Scandal Would be a National Obsession.”

This is the double standard of the left.  The moonbats are still freaking out over a traffic jam in New Jersey, but the IRS targeting conservative groups  is a “phony scandal.”

Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.
