Friday B-Movie Pick – Constantine
Good and evil battle it out. A surprising good supernatural action flick with Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, and Shia LaBeouf. Plus Tilda Swinton in yet another gender bending role as the Archangel Gabriel. Lots of action with bad guys who are really bad, and the good guys have issues too.
Quote of the Morning
“Whether you like it or not, gun rights are civil rights. If you are against gun rights, then you are in the same pack as the Klan and the communists, and are as likely to vote to shut down churches and newspapers as you are to license and register guns.” — Guy Smith
Archie’s decision is out.
Here is the news straight from Archie Comics.
Starting with issue #600, there will be a six part story titled “Archie marries Veronica.”
Issue #600 is part one, “The Proposal.”
The cover art shows Betty standing outside the jewelry store, where Archie is on one knee and Veronica is saying “Yes!”. Betty is clearly crying and yes, you Hooper X fans out there, Jughead is outside too and he looks a little broken up.
Gun Crime drops in D.C. post Heller
That violent crimes committed by criminals with illegally obtained firearms has dropped since Washington, D.C.’s draconian anti-Civil Rights handgun ban was overturned should not be a surprise to anyone who actually studied the subject.
From the Washington Post Article:
The D.C. police department’s aggressive gun recovery efforts and the office of the attorney general’s coordinated emphasis on prosecuting gun-related crimes are showing strong results: In the past year, robberies with guns have decreased 12 percent; assaults with guns have decreased 14 percent; and overall violent crime has decreased by 5 percent in the District.
Hmmm…punishing the criminals and not the law abiding citizens seems to have a positive effect on society. Funny how the far left just can’t seem to grok that concept.

Memorial Day Monday Book Pick: Band of Brothers
Band of Brothers: E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest by Stephen E. Ambrose
A Memorial Day special Monday Book Pick. If you have seen the series and haven’t read the book, do so. There is a lot of detail that didn’t make it to the screen. This book follows Easy Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne, from their initial training to the unit’s deactivation in November 1945. The Normande landings on D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, and more.
A major change to a bedrock of American culture
After decades of chasing both Betty and Veronica, Archie Andrews is going to propose to someone is September 2009!
This should be bigger than the Archie/Punisher cross over book!
Friday B-Movie Pick: The Thirteenth Floor
A great flick that pokes at the concepts of reality. Before you Matrix nerds start howling, this movie is based on a book that predates that.
Ya, I know it’s Saturday, so I’m a day late.

What is with Obama and hookers?
First it was $2.6 Million US tax dollars to Train Chinese Prostitutes.
Now it’s $178,000 US Tax Dollars to study prostitutes in Thailand.
David Williams, vice president for policy at Citizens Against Government Waste is correct in his assessment of this latest study, “This really is a complete waste of money and should not be funded by the taxpayer.”
On the other hand, Barry could just be doing some research on places he plans on visiting in his role as our Dear Leader. According the comedian Jay Mohr, we shouldn’t blame him for looking for something on the side.
Update: Just to strengthen the “he’s looking for a place to party” theory, $117,000 US Tax dollars are being spent on “party drug” usage in Brazil.
Barry wrote in his book that he had a weakness cocaine in his younger days. Perhaps the stress of attempting to be the leader of the Free World has him looking to recapture the carefree days of his youth.
Congressional democrats say NO to B.H. Obama!
Both the democrat controlled House and the Senate voted against providing funds our Dear Leader wanted in order to close Camp X-Ray at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base and move the Islamofascist terrorists there to other facilities in the US and abroad.
This is important for several reasons. For one, we found something that a majority of Congress isn’t willing to spend money on. That is a marked difference to the spendthrift ways Congress has demonstrated for too many years.
It also illustrates the point that Congressional democrats have to worry about reelection before our Dear Leader does. One can draw the conclusion that National Security still is in the mind of voters, especially centrist swing voters who may not be happy with the current administration’s handling of such vital matters.
It would be very entertaining to see Code Pink holding protests outside the offices of the Congressional democrat leaders for keeping Camp X-Ray open, but I’m not holding my breath for it. Code Pinko has shown itself to be a hyper-partisan far leftist organization instead a principled peace movement.
