Quote of the Day

“A liberal would star at you slack-jawed if you explained that the federal government, via Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, forced politically correct lending policies on the banks — policies that were attacked by Republicans but ferociously defended by Democrats–and that banks’ suicidal loans were then bundled into mortgage-backed securities and dispersed throughout the entire financial system, which poisoned the economy, bringing down powerful institutions, such as Lehman Brothers, and destroying innumerable families’ financial portfolios.”

— Ann Coulter, Demonic

Quote of the Day

Tuesday, July 16th, 2013

What is ominous is the ease with which some people go from saying that they don’t like something to saying that the government should forbid it. When you go down that road, don’t expect freedom to survive very long.

Thomas Sowell

“When the Tea Party burst out on the scene in 2010, the co-opted techniques used by the left to show that they were The People. Popular revolt, demonstrations, rallies, all of it— all of it from the left’s playbook.

This wouldn’t do for the media for many reasons. They immediately attempted to claim the Tea Party was astroturf, artificial. Of course it must be! After all, the media is on The Side of the People, and if we have 30,000 people demonstrating here against the media’s agenda, why, that would mean the media is not on the Side of the People, and that can’t be! So this must be a corporate astroturf campaign paid for by the Koch brothers.

The media continues to despise the Tea Party for putting a lie to the media’s claim that they’re Just on the Side of the People. And they doubly hate the Tea Party because the media are among the people to whom that lie has been exposed.”

Ace

Keep in mind that  the left’s lies about the Tea Party being “racist” are just that, lies.

The Tea Party is a cross section of America.

“I think the IRS probe is very high the list of priorities for Obama. It’s right under congratulating the first dyslexic, transgender hockey player. He’s going to be visiting a solar panel farm run by vegans. And he will be giving a medal to a woman who treats obese rodents with hypnotherapy. Then after that maybe they’ll get to the IRS.”

Quote of the Day

Tuesday, June 11th, 2013

“The way things are supposed to work is that we’re supposed to know virtually everything about what they do: that’s why they’re called public servants. They’re supposed to know virtually nothing about what we do: that’s why we’re called private individuals. This dynamic – the hallmark of a healthy and free society – has been radically reversed. Now, they know everything about what we do, and are constantly building systems to know more. Meanwhile, we know less and less about what they do, as they build walls of secrecy behind which they function. That’s the imbalance that needs to come to an end. No democracy can be healthy and functional if the most consequential acts of those who wield political power are completely unknown to those to whom they are supposed to be accountable.”

Quote of the Decade

Thursday, June 6th, 2013

That is how Ed Driscoll tags it, and he’s probably right.

“In Wetumpka, we are patriotic Americans. We peacefully assemble. We petition our government. We exercise the right to free speech. And we don’t understand why the government tried to stop us.

I’m not here as a serf or a vassal. I’m not begging my lords for mercy. I’m a born free American woman. Wife, mother, and citizen. And I’m telling my government that you’ve forgotten your place. It’s not your responsibility to look out for my wellbeing and to monitor my speech. It’s not your right to assert an agenda. Your post, the post that you occupy, exists to preserve American liberty. You’ve sworn to perform that duty, and you have faltered…

What the government did to our little group in Wetumpka, Alabama is un-American. It isn’t a matter of firing or arresting individuals. The individuals who sought to intimidate us were acting as they thought they should, in a government culture that has little respect for its citizens. Many of the agents and agencies of the federal government do not understand that they are servants of the people. They think they are our masters. And they are mistaken.

I’m not interested in scoring political points. I want to protect and preserve the America that I grew up in. The America that people crossed oceans and risked their lives to become a part of. And I’m terrified it is slipping away.

Thank you.”

— Testimony of Becky Gerritson, president of the Wetumpka, Alabama Tea Party, before the House Ways and Means Committee

“25 states allow anyone to buy a gun, strap it on, and walk down the street with no permit of any kind: some says it’s crazy. However, four out of five US murders are committed in the other half of the country: So who’s crazy?”

Quote of the Day

Wednesday, June 5th, 2013

“Put down how much you earn, put down a deduction for charitable contributions, home mortgage and how much you owe. It ought to be a simple one-page postcard, and take the agents, the bureaucracy out of Washington and limit the power of government.”

Senator Ted Cruz

A damn good idea.  The IRS is too big and the tax code is much too complex and places an undo burden on the American taxpayer.

Quote of the Day

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

“Somehow we’ve gotten to a place where the bullying, sanctimonious, preening of Obama-style liberalism is seen as cool and rebellious. There’s no reasoning with what makes things cool. But radical? You’d have to scrape contemporary liberalism against a whetting stone for a week just to get it to “edgy” status. Virtually all the institutions of power young people interact with — schools, colleges, bureaucracies, corporations, Hollywood etc — are liberal. And yet these kids think they’re rebelling against something! What? Peaceful and hardworking Christians who live a hundred miles away?”
