Morning Round Up.

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

NYC Mayor Bloomberg is pissed at both Hillary Rodham Clinton and our Dear Leader. While breaking his campaign promise and jacking the taxes of Americans through the roof, HRC, likely acting on orders from BHO, exempted foreign diplomats from paying property taxes that have been in place since 1873. This will cost NYC, which is having budget problems like most Americans & American businesses, $260 million. This is on top of the $66 million the State Department owes NYC for providing police security for United Nations missions. I’d feel bad over this, but NYC voted overwhelmingly for both HRC as a carpetbagging Senator and for our Dear Leader. The residents of NYC are getting what they asked for, good and hard.

It also appears that our Dear Leader is getting tired of having to answer pesky questions from the American people, like “Why did you screw the pooch on the economy?” He canceled a “Town Hall” style meeting, that would have included questions from the American people and replaced it with a teleprompter driven speech with no questions. No pesky citizens either, since the venue for the speech is closed to the public. No Sunshine here.

House democrats are seeking a $540 Billion Tax increase in order to pay for what idiots on the left are calling “free health care.” The policies of congressional democrats and our Dear Leader have driven a bad economy even worse, and now they want to put a crippling tax on the American people. Hardly surprising, this latest bit of idiotic behavior is being driven by tax cheat Charles Rangel.

While the government is under the control of democrats, the federal deficit has reached a new record, $1 Trillion dollars. Given that most of our Dear Leader‘s staff doesn’t pay taxes, it’s up to you to foot that bill. Oh, and expect that to go much higher. They are out to radically change the American government, and they really don’t care what it costs.

I’ve been writing about the President’s war on Inspector Generals, the people who’s job is to find corruption and waste in the federal government. That story isn’t going away as fast as our Dear Leader and the MSM would like it too.

White House Press corps corners Obama weasel Gibbs

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

By way of Say Anything Blog, members of the White House Press Corps, including Helen Thomas, are calling official White House weasel Gibbs on the complete control the the White House holds over their so-called “Town Hall” meetings. They are complete staged and scripted.

Even Helen Thomas, a devout liberal democrat, is objecting to the way our Dear Leader‘s administration is trying to control the press.

Just what is it that Barack Hussein Obama is trying to hide from the American people?

democrat Culture of Corruption marches on

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers, a democrat and wife of democrat congressman John Conyers (more on him later), has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit bribery according the Justice Department.

Hard left democrat Monica Conyers “had been under investigation for allegedly accepting bribes from a consultant in connection with a City Council vote to approve a $1.2 billion sludge hauling contract”, according the to the Washington Times.

You may remember Ms. Conyers. She was involved in an “open discussion on race” a few months ago.

Speakers advocating for the deal were taunted by the crowd and cut short by Council President Monica Conyers [the wife of House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers], who presided over the hearing like an angry bulldog; whites were advised by the citizens to, “Go home.”

Opponents were allowed to rant and ramble on uninterrupted about “those people” who want to steal Detroit’s assets and profit from the city’s labors.

A pitiful Teamster official who practically crawled to the table on his knees expressing profuse respect for this disrespectful body was battered by both the crowd and the council.

When he dared suggest that an improved Cobo Center would create more good-paying jobs for union workers, Conyers reminded him, “Those workers look like you; they don’t look like me.”

Desperate, he invoked President Barack Obama’s message of unity and was angrily warned, “Don’t you say his name here.”

So, not only is Monica Conyers a racist, she’s a corrupt racist. The very model of a modern democrat.

Morning Roundup

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Let’s start with crude oil prices continuing their climb to rise above $71 a barrel. Remember what happened last summer with a sharp spike in oil prices? That’s right kids, a companion sharp spike in inflation! Pretty much everything you buy had to be shipped in, at least part of the way, by truck. A spike in inflation, especially in food prices, is a tax on everyone, with the poor the hardest hit. What is our Dear Leader going to do about it? The answer to that question is, not a damn thing. Remember that he thinks gas prices up around $4 or $5 a galleon is a “good thing.” He’s doesn’t have to drive the kids around or commute to work, so why should he care if it affects you?

According to Industry Week, the democrat‘s Cap and Tax scheme is a really bad idea for the American economy.

John at Powerline points out that “The days when “whistle blowers” were popular on the left are gone”. The moonbat view is that anyone who dares to “investigate an Obama crony” deserves whatever they get.

While on the topic of our Dear Leader‘s illegal firing of Gerald Walpin, the inspector general of AmeriCorps, Byron York has some advice on how to see that truth gets out.

Michelle Malkin has a story on ObamaCare that our Dear Leader and his cronies don’t want you to read.

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the democrats’ $1 Trillion Health Care Plan will Cost 23 Million Americans their Private Insurance.

Some leftist homosexuals are starting to figure out that our Dear Leader and the DNC have used them as “useful idiots”. Dudes (and dudettes, and whatever sexual identity you may have), it was clearly obvious to anyone not blinded by an overdose of BDS that you were going to get thrown under the bus by BHO! If you are finally getting serious, not only do you need to stop supporting the democrats, but start firmly supporting the Libertarian Party. It’s the only party that truly doesn’t care what consenting adults do or with each other and strongly believes that it’s none of the government’s business either. Until you do that, the DNC is just going to keep screwing you over in ways you don’t like!

A pattern of abuse and denial at the Obama White House

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Another update in our Dear Leader‘s blatantly political firing of an Investigator General for doing his job by finding corruption by BHO’s political appointees.

First Byron York writes in the Washington Examiner about how the Obama White House Special Counsel to the President for Ethics and Government Reform refuses to answer direct questions from a Senate investigation on matter of the firing of IG Walpin.

What is the Obama administration hiding? My bet is that is the actual truth of the matter is the last thing Team Lightbringer wants to see the light of day.

Next is a Chicago Tribune story, by way of Hot Air, that points out that the Obama White House has a pattern of firing IG’s that don’t toe their strictly political line, instead of doing their job and protecting the taxpayers.
This IG, Neil Barofsky, pointed out that there were “insufficient safeguards on Porkulus spending.”

What is clear is that Barack Hussein Obama and his administration will not stand for anyone questioning their actions, especially government employees who’s job is to undercover fraud and waste and government spending. This is the “transparency” of Team Lightbringer.

Updates on Obama’s illegal IG firing

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

As I noted before, our Dear Leader has removed a federal inspector general for daring to investigate the head of AmeriCorps, a political appointee of BHO. IG Gerald Walpin had found millions of dollars wasted or misspent, and as his job required, reported it. BHO responded by firing a competent government employee for actually doing his job.

John Elwood has more on the matter over at the Volokh Conspiracy.

The allegations of a politically motivated firing are getting all the attention, but being a Law Nerd, I wanted to focus briefly on, well, some of the nerdier aspects of the imbroglio. Some commentators have pointed to the bare statement of reasons in President Obama’s letter as (1) an indication that he is hiding something, as though he could not give good reasons for the firing; and (2) questioned whether that spare statement of reasons complied with the terms of the Inspector General Reform Act of 2008, which Senator Obama cosponsored.

During the brief time B. Hussein Obama was a senator, and actually showed up to work, he cosponsored a bill stating that a President could not fire an IG without valid cause. Which is pretty much exactly what he is doing now, in violation of the law he helped create.

Michelle Malkin has more on the amount of devalued American dollars that are being dumped in to AmeriCorps, and another on how this is just corrupt Chicago politics as usual.

Update: Ace notes that “Key Democratic Ally Claire McCaskill Admits Obama “Didn’t Follow Law” on Firing AmericaCorps IG.” Ace goes on to point out that McCaskill really isn’t bothered by our Dear Leader’s illegal actions, as long as he comes up with some flimsy fiction to cover his ass legally. Did you really expect any democrat to to hold B. Hussein Obama accountable for breaking the law he co-sponsored?

Update: Ms. Malkin is continuing to dig into this story. She points out that IG Walpin uncovered “the wasteful Teaching Fellows Program, run by the Research Foundation of the City University of New York, which is AmeriCorps’s largest and most expensive program.” The charges the corrupt Obama administration are bringing against inspector general Gerald Walpin are vapid and flimsy in the extreme. The only thing That IG Walpin was “confused” about was assuming that BHO administration wasn’t corrupt.

Update: IG Walpin speaks out on BHO’s lame excuse.

“That’s a total lie,” Walpin said of the latter charge. And he said the accusation that he was dazed and confused at one meeting out of many was not only false, but poor rationale for his ouster.

“It appears to suggest that I was removed because I was disabled — based on one occasion out of hundreds,” he said.

“I would never say President Obama doesn’t have the capacity to continue to serve because of his (statement) that there are 56 states,” Walpin said, adding that the same holds for Vice President Biden and his “many express confusions that have been highlighted by the media.” Obama mistakenly said once on the campaign trail that he had traveled to 57 states.

Walpin concluded that his firing stems from bad blood between him and the board, as well as with Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson — an Obama supporter whom he had investigated for alleged misuse of federal funds. He said his performance at the May meeting drew criticism because he issued two reports critical of the board. In one, he criticized the settlement reached in the Johnson case; in the other, he criticized the use of millions of dollars for a program at the City University of New York.

“The board at that meeting was clearly angry at my temerity,” he said.

Yup, that’s the bottom line here. Team Lightbringer is firing a government employee for actually doing his job. This is what you can expect for anyone who dares questions the reign of Barack I, MSM-proclaimed God Emperor of America.

Update: More details from John at Powerline.

Actual Science Alert!

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

A warning to AGW cultists, actual science is used in video below to dispute Al Gore’s fear mongering.

Remember kids, Al Gore founded a company that sells “Carbon Credits.” Those are modern plenary indulgence payments to the AGW Cult the gullible make. Even the New York Times calls the practice a scam. If you are wondering why someone like Al Gore, former Senator and former Vice-President of the United States of America, is participating in an obvious scam based on junk science, I suggest you follow the advice of the man who wrote the screen play.

“Follow the money.”

Update: Al Gore Lies to Congress. What else did he lie about?

I Question the numbers

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

The city of Detroit, Michigan has more registered voters than residents over the age of 18.

Detroit election officials confirmed Monday what an analysis of census and population records shows: The city has more registered voters than it has residents over the voting age of 18.

He estimates that Detroit’s population is about 853,000, which includes 603,000 people over 18 — 30,000 fewer than the city reported as its total of registered voters.

“Even if you had 100% voter registration, which we know we don’t have, you could not have numbers that high,” he said. “Nationally, 67.6% of Americans are registered to vote. For African Americans, it’s 60.9%.”

No surprise, but the voting record in Detroit trends about 95% democrat. This is smelling like ACORN corruption.

The Corruption keeps rolling along

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Corrupt democrat Congressman John Murtha is continuing his pattern of pork barrel spending.

Four of the earmark requests from Murtha’s office are for current or former clients of a lobbying firm, the PMA Group, that is currently under federal investigation for connection to possible “straw” donations to Murtha and other Democratic members of the House.

Murtha also has not yet apologized to the cleared US Marines he insulted.

AIG execs pressured to donate to democrat Senator Dodd

Monday, March 30th, 2009

The Washington Times has the story on how the Senate Banking Committee Chair, democrat Chris Dodd, collected large donations from AIG employees.

Mr. Dodd’s campaign quickly hit pay dirt, collecting more than $160,000 from employees and their spouses at the AIG Financial Products division (AIG-FP) in Wilton, Conn., in the days before he took over as the committee chairman in January 2007. Months later, the senator transferred the donations to jump-start his 2008 presidential bid, which later failed.

Now, two years later, Mr. Dodd has emerged as a central figure in the government’s decision to let executives at the now-failing AIG collect more than $218 million in bonuses, according to the Connecticut attorney general – even as the company was receiving billions of dollars in assistance from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). He acknowledged that he slipped a provision into legislation in February that authorized the bonuses, but said the Treasury Department asked him to do it.

The employees were told, “If you agree,” to write checks for $2,100 from themselves and their spouses and to send them to Mr. Dodd’s campaign within four days. They also were to ask the senior members of their management teams to do the same and send copies of their checks to the company.

The Dodd campaign collected $162,100 from AIG-FP employees and their spouses within six weeks of the e-mail, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics and the Federal Election Commission.

Note that the employees were told to send copies of their checks to the company. That may be legal, but it clearly crosses an ethical line.
