The “money” quote:

“Blame the Tea Party? Geez, no wonder Kerry did so well in an election. If it wasn’t for the Tea Party, they would have passed the debt ceiling thumbs up, we would have been rated BBB.”

Reality is clearly not her strong point

The DNC’s so called “spokesperson” Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is still on her long term vacation from reality.

The latest example is her claiming that “We’ve Really Begun To Turn The Economy Around.”

If she means that the democrats have turned the economy around by wedging it even further in the ditch he and the congressional democrats have wedged into with their Keynesian policies, then ya, she could be inhabiting the shared reality of rational adults, but I really don’t think that is the case.

Let’s review a couple of recent indicators of just how the American economy is doing.

Unemployment rose in more than 90 percent of U.S. cities in June

An increase in layoffs in the sector helped push the number of announced U.S. jobs cuts to a 16-month high.

There is also the decrease in demand for manufactured goods, the recent downgrades in the GDP for the past year, and rising inflation.

If you want to spot check this, drive around your local town and see how many empty store fronts and office buildings there are.  Are there more or less than there were a year ago?  Unless you live in Texas, the answer is probably more.

NPR’s top picks for SciFi and Elf Porn

NPR has distilled the input they got for people’s top picks for SciFi & Fantasy down to 100 selections, and are asking people to pick their top ten.  There is some utter dreck in the list, along with some of the true classics in the field.

Go vote, but if your choices don’t include Heinlein, Pournelle, Niven, or Farmer, just hang your head in shame.

What is the democrats problem with simple facts?

Clearly, the shared reality of rational adults is not the strong point of democrats.

Case in point, democrat party “spokesperson” Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.  Ms. Wasserman-Schultz goes on a hysterical rant accusing the Congressional Republicans, who only control one half of one third of the Federal government, of trying to impose “dictatorship” by means of following the defined Constitutional process.

Let us review who actually desires to impose a “dictatorship” on the American people.  President Barack H. Obama recently addressed the far left extremist racist organization “La Rasa” and said the following, “Believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting.”

Let’s review the facts here, the democrats control the White House and the Senate, and are accusing the House Republicans, who only have a simple majority in the House, of trying to impose a “dictatorship.”  Sounds more like the democrats are being whiny little bitches now that they can’t shove their far left extremist agenda down the throats of the American people unopposed.  The democrats are falling back on their basic argument that anybody who dares to oppose them should “shut up” and let them implement their far left extremist agenda.  The problem with this argument is, as our Dear Leader pointed out, Elections Have Consequences‏. The 2010 elections were a resounding vote against the extremist policies of President Obama and the congressional democrats. Unfortunately for the congressional democrats and our Dear Leader, they have to live in the reality they reject.

“Because despite the efforts of the administration and its willing accomplices in the media, the belief that the auto bailouts were a success is simply a myth. Leave aside the obvious point that the government still stands to lose billions of dollars on its investment as well as many billions more from the preferential tax treatment of the reorganizations. Not only was the bailout unnecessary to save the American automotive industry but the politicized bankruptcy process left both General Motors and Chrysler in a weaker competitive position than if they had simply reorganized in a standard chapter 11 process.”

Violent Luddites

Great post by Oleg Volk on violent Luddites.

Anti-gun activists have much in common with the original Luddites. They blame new technologies and users of those technologies for their own plight, and aren’t above using violence to achieve their goals. Luddites did their own killing, whereas “anti-gunners” — more “anti personal guns for ordinary people” in truth — try to use the ATF and other government agencies as their cat’s paw.

The rallying cry of the anti-gun bigots is usually “for reasonable gun control!” They claim that old, simple guns are just fine, it’s the new and extra deadly weapons and ammunition that are the evil incarnate.

Mr. Volk then goes on to illustrate what those who pay attention know, leftists are really bad at history.
