Logan’s Run

We have to travel back to 1976 for this SciFi flick staring Michael York and Jenny Agutter. Based on the much better book, it tells the story of a Post-apocalyptic society where people are limited to 30 years of life (21 in the much harsher book). Logan is a “Sandman”, a government official who hunts down and kills people who want to live longer than the government allows. Excellent special effects for when it was made, and it has Jenny Agutter.

Big Boys Don’t Cry by Tom Kratman

Tom Kratman writes a Bolo Novella. OK, they aren’t called “Bolos”, but Parthas. They are just huge, tank like, war machines with an AI core, that are pretty damn smart by the time they reach revs in the late thirties. Let’s just say that in this morality play, the Partha’s human masters do things to them that no Bolo (or Partha) should have to live through. I know a few things about the military, military history, and training. Subjects that Kratman is an expert on, and all three play a part in this story. An interesting read, with a happier ending than you would expect.

“The Obama economy is now the minimum wage economy. I think we can do better than that, I think America can do better than that.”

“Who is going to be the first to apologize to Mitt Romney? The President, the Vice President or Hillary Rodham Clinton? All three mocked the GOP presidential candidate in 2012 when he called Russia “our number one geopolitical foe.”

Obama said his opponent was “stuck in a Cold War mind warp.” Clinton, then Secretary of State, offered her two cents, saying, “In many of the areas where we are working to solve problems, Russia has been an ally.”

Biden added that “This is not 1956.”

Trek Wars

There is so much wrong with this, which is what makes it awesome.

Quote of the Day

“The president doesn’t trust his commander, can’t stand Karzai, doesn’t believe in his own strategy and doesn’t consider the war to be his. For him, it’s all about getting out.”

— Robert Gates, former Obama administration Secretary of Defense on our Dear Leader‘s attitude toward Afghanistan.

Friday B-Movie Pick: Bullet to the Head

Bullet to the Head

Sylvester Stallone may be in his mid sixties, but he can still pay a convincing bad ass. He plays a career criminal who has worked his way up to professional assassin. The story starts with his latest employer deciding to kill him and his partner rather than pay them. His partner was killed and that really pissed him off. He ends up teaming up with an out of town cop investigating his ex-partner murder. Ok, the cop knows that Stallone character killed him, but he wants the man who paid him. Excellent fight scenes and the acting was pretty decent as well. Christian Slater as the other name actor, and is does a good job playing a crooked lawyer. The other actor I recognized was the big barbarian guy from Star Gate: Atlantis. He was delightfully bad ass himself as a mercenary working for the chief evil bad guy. In all it was a fun action flick. Well worth the rental and popcorn.

For the extreme left, politics is their religion

President Obama told his OFA minions that “The work you are doing is god’s work.”

Keep in mind that BHO also defined sin as “Being out of alignment with my values.”

This fits in with his hardcore extremist followers being cultists.

Update: Barbara Walters in a rare moment of left wing extremist honesty.

Time to look at some numbers again…

Once again, it’s time to look at the numbers.

As we enter the sixth year of our Dear Leader’s “Occupy the White House Golf Tour”, let us review some numbers from the past five years.

In 2008, there were 145 million Americans in the work force, 79.4 million Americans not in the labor force, and the federal debt was $9.4 Trillion.

Today, in early 2014, we have 145 million Americans in the work force, 91.8 million Americans not in the labor force and a federal debt of $17.3 Trillion.

So in five years there has not added any new Americans to the labor force, but there are 12 million more Americans who could be in the labor force who are not, and the federal debt has increased by $7.9 trillion.

So new jobs created over the past five years is zero. As you have often heard every times the new unemployment numbers come out, the US economy needs to create 120,000 jobs a month just to cover new workers entering the work force. Over five years, that comes to 7.2 Million jobs. Given that the number of Americans in the work force has remained flat, the Obama Economy has not only failed to create any new jobs, it has actively removed jobs. This is an appalling performance, especially since the last recession ending in mid 2009, so for most of the last five years, American should have been in an economic recovery. A period were traditionaly there is not just job growth, but rapid and strong job growth. That has been the pattern in every recession/recovery for the past 100 years. This includes the recession of the late 1970s, which was the worst recession since the Great Drepression and the roaring recovery that occured in the early 1980s. Why is is the Obama non-recovery from the second worst recession the sole exception to economic history?
