Round up Post
Favors to foundation donors stretch back to Hillary Clinton’s Senate days. Corruption and the Clintons are old friends.
CIA releases memo showing agency blamed Bill Clinton for bankrupting war on terror ahead of 9/11. There is a reason ABC has been pressured to never release The Path to 9/11 after the original, one time, airing.
Flight Logs Confirm Clinton and Dershowitz Flew on Pedophile Billionaire’s Sex Jet. Of course there is a blackout of this on most of the so-called “main stream” media. On the other hand, this is Billy Jeff Clinton we’re talking about. It would have been surprising if he hadn’t been on a jet to an island where he could have sex with underaged girls.
Politico sat on allegations Lois Lerner had prior history of targeting conservatives. Given Politico’s well known left leaning tendencies, this is not a surprise.
NPR joins the “War on Women”
I caught a bit of the NPR Sunday Quiz/Talk show today. One of the hosts was mocking one of the Republican presidential candidates’ comment about having a “rotating First Lady” if elected. The candidate in question is unmarried.
The so-called “Liberal”, probably a “Progressive”, democrat hosting the show immediately asked if the rotation would be like a rotisserie chicken or a slab of beef on a rotating pedestal, so “slices of First Lady” could be carved off as needed.
It is not surprising that the leftist’s first inclination was to equate a woman to a piece of meat. As I have pointed out before, if you want to know what the extremist left is doing, just look to what they are accusing their enemies of. Case in point, the alleged “War on Women” they accuse anybody to the right of Chairman Mao of conducting.
In addition to this “progressive” democrat doing what fascists do, dehumanize their foes, you can add the following to the extreme far left’s “War on Women.”
- Conservative women who dare to speak at college campuses need to hire bodyguards to protect themselves from the “tolerant and open minded” leftists on campus.
- A CNN Talking Head by the name of Carol Costello, found an attack on Gov. Sarah Palin’ daughter humorous
- The coordinated attack, lead by Hillary Rodham Clinton, on every women who dared to speak up after being sexually assaulted (including rape), by her husband Bill Clinton.
- A South Carolina democrat referred to Gov. Haley a “whore.”
Feel free to add to the list. There are plenty more examples.
Round up post
Let’s look at some economic news:
From Professor Reynolds, Three ways to actually do something positive about the economy.
The reality behind the current “low” unemployment numbers
Businesses quietly switch to dollar in socialist Venezuela. Add this to long list of socialism failures that socialists refuse to acknowledge.
US Border Patrol helicopter forced down by gunfire from Mexico
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter operating near the Mexican border Texas was forced down after taking gunfire from people firing from Mexico. An article from Breitbart states that the helicopter was part of a team interdicting a narcotics load and working with the U.S. Border Patrol. The operation occurred near the headquarters of the Los Zetas drug cartel.
One has to wonder if the Los Zetas were one of the Mexican drug cartels that the Obama regime supplied weapons to.
I am prepared to be underwhelmed by our Dear Leader’s response to this armed attack from a foreign country on US federal agents. The Mexican drug cartels have declared war the US. Hopefully the response will be something stronger than supplying them more weapons payed for by the American taxpayer.
Update: CBP now has armored Blackhawks on the Mexican border.
Quote of the Day
“Liberal racism is nothing new, of course — in fact, it’s perfectly normal. Drive around white Los Angeles all day and you will rarely, if ever, see a black face, and the only Mexicans you’ll encounter will be maids and gardeners. “Diversity,” it seems, is for other people”
Quote of the Day
Double shot QotD!
“‘Hate speech’ is a made-up term used to justify censorship. It’s an un-American idea, used by anti-American people. It’s a marker for fascism.” — Glenn Reynolds
“I think the notion that we should treat pole dancing like constitutionally protected free speech while we try to ban actual political speech is just one of the loopiest manifestations of our popular confusion over the First Amendment.” — Jonah Goldberg
Both of these statements refer to what I have often said. The progressive left really doesn’t like the concept of Free Speech. They want to make any speech they disagree with illegal. They use Orwell’s 1984 as a training manual, instead of the warning it was meant to be.
Friday B-Movie Pick: Predestination
Movie version of the classic Robert A. Heinlein short story, “All You Zombies.” Remarkably true to the story, down to the dialogue, with an added layer of complexity added to make the story movie length. A very well made movie based on perhaps the best time travel story ever written.
Happy Lenin’s Birthday!
Yup, it’s time for the annual Lenin’s Birthday post!
For those of you coming in late to the party, Earth Day” is on Lenin’s Birthday. Not a coincidence, given that the “founder” of Earth Day was much more a “Watermelon” than an actual environmentalist. Watermelon: Thin layer of green of the outside, red to the core.
Let’s review the predictions from the very first so called “Earth Day” back in 1970.
“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” — George Wald, Harvard Biologist
“Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist
“By…[1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist
“It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” — Denis Hayes, chief organizer for Earth Day
“Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.” — Peter Gunter, professor, North Texas State University
“Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….” — Life Magazine, January 1970
“At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist
“Air pollution…is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist
Ok, Ehrlich was sorta right on this, if you restrict his predictions to modern Communist China, where they are showing the typical communist/socialist contempt for the environment.
“By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate…that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, `Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, `I am very sorry, there isn’t any.’” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist
Now we get to my personal favorite, although probably not Al Gore‘s…
“The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years,” he declared. “If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist
2014 Update: Wired Magazine publishes this article: Renewables Aren’t Enough. Clean Coal Is the Future
It wouldn’t be Lenin’s Birthday with out this clip of the late George Carlin discussing “Saving the Planet.”
Monday Book Pick: A Call to Duty
A Call to Duty by David Weber and Timothy Zahn
This is the first book in the Manticore Ascendant series, which is a prequel series to the Honor Harrington series. It takes place in the early days of the Manticoran Star Kingdom, when the Manticoran Navy was not so powerful or well funded. It took a couple of chapters to get me hooked, but one it picked up, I didn’t want to put it down.
Friday B-Movie Pick: I Married a Witch
A classic example of the Screwball Comedy genre from the 1930s and 1940s. The absolutely stunning Veronica Lake plays a Witch who was burned at the stake in Salem, MA, but not before she cursed the Wooley family who identified her as a witch. 270 years later, she’s back and decides to torment the current Wooley, who is running for governor of Massachusetts and is engaged to a shrew (because of the curse). A comedy of errors results in her falling in love with him!
