Meanwhile, in the Commonwealth

Our democrat controlled Legislature voted to keep their action from public view.
The Massachusetts House and Senate voted to kill a Republican sponsored bill to put Committee roll call votes on the Legislature’s website. The democrats want to keep the current rules, which require citizens to drive to Boston during business hours in order to obtain information on how their elected officials voted.
Just what do the democrats in the state legislature want to keep hidden from the citizens of the Commonwealth?
There was also a strict party line vote in the House that killed a Republican sponsored bill that would have prohibited the House from approving any tax hikes without a two-thirds majority on a roll call vote.
OK, so one thing they are trying to hide is that they are going to jack up your taxes, and they want to be able to give political cover to some of the reps by not forcing them to vote for the tax hike.

An Honest Look at democrat talking points on tax hikes
Let’s be honest here, the “tax increase on the richest Americans” that the democrats keep repeating their talking points on, won’t effect the “richest Americans” one damn bit.
Take my senior Senator for example, based on his income as a Senator alone, he should be paying federal tax at a rate in the mid thirties. In addition to his tax payer funded income, he personally is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, plus he married a woman who inherited billions of dollars from her late husband. His federal tax rate is 14%.
The tax hike the democrats are so hot for won’t effect his tax rate one damn bit. So the democrat’s rhetoric about having the richest Americans pair their fair share of taxes is a flat out lie.
One of good ideas of the President’s deficit reduction panel was to drastically simplify the tax code and reduce the highest tax rate to 25%. That will reduce the 30% plus overhead of the IRS and get uber-rich democrats, like my senior Senator, to actually pay their fair share of the taxes paid by almost every other working American.
Don’t expect democrats to embrace this idea though. It goes against their core values, like waging class warfare.
Quote of the Day
“In the liberal imagination, the money is the government’s by default, and the president and Congress determine through the tax code how much to give back to the people.”
VP Joe Biden visits a flyover state and gets a request from an American Citizen
Small business owner in Wisconsin tells VP Joe Biden to “Lower our taxes.”
Biden ignores the peasant and his quaint ideas.
A spokesman for the GOP responded to the VP’s visit:
“Vice President Biden probably decided not to take questions today because he didn’t want to fess up as to why Wisconsin has lost over 73,000 jobs since the stimulus was enacted.”
I’m surprised that many Americans are paying attention
According to a recent Gallup poll, 63% of Americans expect their taxes to go up over the next year. Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey points out that this poll doesn’t target likely voters or even just voters, it’s a poll of the general adult population. This not a good sign for the democrats. If everybody is expecting their taxes to go up, that means the percentage is probably higher amount likely voters.
I’m betting that more and more Americans are identifying with the two unifying themes of the Tea Party protests, less government spending and a smaller government.
The Hidden Cost of the Federal Tax Code
Obama White House is starting to push for a VAT tax
For those of you who don’t know what a VAT tax is, it’s a tax on everything paid by everyone.
Given the massive debts our Dear Leader and the democrat congress have run up since taking control of the government, and their plans to keep spending, they need a way to fleece even more money from the American people. The VAT tax they are talking up is certainly one way to do it, as long as you don’t care about the negative effects on the economy. Since actually working to improve the economy clearly isn’t anywhere on the agenda for the Obama administration or Congressional democrats, keep your eye out for a federal VAT tax.
Quote of the Day
You can count on a few things in this world. The swallows will return to Capistrano. Salmon will spawn. Canada’s geese will fly south for the winter. And tax cuts will create growth.
