I saw a recent post from someone who is smart enough to know better, that managed to squeeze Godwin’s Law and the intellectually dishonest “Race Card” into a single package.
They were ranting about the recent Arizona law that allows law enforcement officials to check immigration status in course of standard police investigation.
Attempting to claim this is a “show your papers” law is a clear case of either willful ignorace of the law or clear case of spouting leftist propaganda. Neither of those reflect positively on the poster. Let us get some facts straight that the leftists want left in the dark. First, “illegal” is not a race, so claiming ‘racism’ is a false argument from the start. Then keep in mind that this law is massively popular in Arizona, with 70% of the citizens supporting it. If you think that 70% doesn’t include a big chunk of Americans of Mexican decent (and legal immigrants from Mexico), you need to get out of your local Starbucks and visit the American southwest.
The typical leftist argument ignores the economic and violence issues associated with this issue. The cost of illegal immigrants (and I’m just going to include the ones who are trying to make a better life for them and their families here, God bless ’em and damn the corrupt and incompetent government of Mexico that can’t provide basic safety for its citizens) is driving the border states bankrupt. Even one of the far left liberals who recently ran for the California Governor’s seat admitted this. There is an immigration problem, that the federal government, in a rare fit of bipartisanship, refuses to address, leading Arizona to have to deal with the problem at a state level.
Yup, “Earth Day” is on Lenin’s Birthday. Not a coincidence, given that the “founder” of Earth Day was much more a “Watermelon” than an actual environmentalist.
Watermelon: Thin layer of green of the outside, red to the core.
“Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” — George Wald, Harvard Biologist
“Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist
“By…[1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist
“It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” — Denis Hayes, chief organizer for Earth Day
“Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.” — Peter Gunter, professor, North Texas State University
“Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….” — Life Magazine, January 1970
“At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist
“Air pollution…is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone.” — Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist
Ok, Ehrlich was sorta right on this, if you restrict his predictions to modern Communist China, where they are showing the typical communist/socialist contempt for the environment.
“By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate…that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, `Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, `I am very sorry, there isn’t any.’” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist
Now we get to my personal favorite, although probably not Al Gore’s… “The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years,” he declared. “If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.” — Kenneth Watt, Ecologist
You don’t remember seeing this on the evening news? Neither do I. No mention of it on CNN’s site either. It seems that Ms. Sheehan’s passion no longer fits the MSM’s narrative.
Reality to democrat Speaker of the House Pelosi: Tell the people first, and then they will tell their Representatives in Congress if they want them to vote for it. That is how the system works.
What is in that bill that you are so afraid of the American People finding out?
CNN has a long, detailed story about John Patrick Bedell, the fellow who traveled across the country in order to open fire at guards at an entrance to the Pentagon.
“This is about the people,” as Palin repeatedly put it last weekend while pocketing $100,000 of the Tea Partiers’ money.
Mr. Reynolds points out that if Mr. Rich had spend even the slight effort at “real journalism”, he would have found out that Gov. Palin did exactly what she said she would do with the money, “she donated it back.” So Mr. Rich, writing in the NY Times, is either lying, because the “layers of fact checkers and editors” at the Gray Lady did their jobs, found out the actual truth, and let the lie run, or that same “layers of fact checkers and editors” didn’t bother doing the jobs and let the lie run in the “Newspaper of record.” Either answer doesn’t look very good for the so-called “journalists” at the New York Times.
As I’ve noted before, the left isn’t exactly “rational” in regards to their hatred for Gov. Palin, nor have they let actual facts get in the way of their, ahem, “view of reality.”
Color me not surprised, the far left extremist Air America radio network is shutting down because they can’t operate at a profit.
A memorandum was distributed to the staff at Air America Media this afternoon. It read in part:
“It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business.”
The memo was signed by Charlie Kireker, the Chair of Air America Media.
I can think of no better reason to vote against Obama than the prospect of an administration where any criticism of the President is treated as racism.
OLBERMANN: The Republicans and the Tea Partiers will tell you what happens tonight with Scott Brown tonight, whether he wins or comes close, is a repudiation of Obama policies, and surely one of Obama’s policies from the viewpoint of his opponents is that it’s okay to have this sea change in American history, to have an African-American President. Is this vote to any degree just a euphemism the way state’s rights was in the 60s?
FINEMAN: Wow, that is a good question.
Ed Morrissey interjects reality into Olbermann’s rantings:
Yes, because the state that gave Barack Obama a 26-point win in November 2008 has suddenly discovered its inner Bull Connor. That’s not “a good question,” it’s a baldfaced smear on the people of Massachusetts. They elect one Republican, and suddenly in Keith Olbermann’s eyes, everyone there wears a hood and burns crosses. It’s absurd, and Fineman should have said so immediately instead of playing along with Olbermann’s vicious fantasy world in which 201o Massachusetts 0has become 1966 Mississippi.
These MSNBC Moonbats really have gone off the deep end. They are actually flat out calling pickup trucks symbols of racism. These guys are seriously off their meds.
Garrison Keillor, self-appointed cultural representative of regular old Americans, ruffled some feathers yesterday with a mildly xenophobic rant about Christmas. After lambasting a Unitarian church in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for “spiritual piracy and cultural elitism”—tweaking the lyrics of “Silent Night” for a singalong, in layman’s terms—he turned his ire in a different direction:
And all those lousy holiday songs by Jewish guys that trash up the malls every year, Rudolph and the chestnuts and the rest of that dreck. Did one of our guys write ‘Grab your loafers, come along if you wanna, and we’ll blow that shofar for Rosh Hashanah’? No, we didn’t. Christmas is a Christian holiday—if you’re not in the club, then buzz off.
Yet another example to prove that there is nobody more intolerant and narrow-minded than an tolerant and open-minded liberal. Yup, leftist are all for “diversity” as long as “those people” know, and keep, their place.
