Wednesday Round Up
Various bits from the past week or so…
Our Dear Leader‘s policies in the Middle East has made the “Arab Street” hate America even more then they did back when G.W Bush was President. No real surprise to anyone who was paying attention.
The Obama Administration recently violated the ban on federal funding on ACORN. Rule of Law never has been their strong point.
Rep. Tony Weiner’s (democrat – NYC) district may elect a Republican.
This is no surprise to anyone paying attention, but Obamacare is a disaster
The Mainsteam media’s silence on operation “Fast and Furious” is growing deafening.
Quote of the Day
Sir Golfsalot, from his vacation digs there in swanky Martha’s Vineyard, calls out Congress for not enacting his detailed plan to spur the economy? No, really. This is beyond parody.
But it’s pretty transparent, isn’t it? After getting nowhere blaming inanimate objects like corporate jets, ATMs and Japanese earthquakes, little Barack looked around for someone with a worse approval rating than his and settled on “Congress.” So you can expect to see much, much more of this tripe in the coming months.
As Ace has pointed out frequently, though, nobody votes for “Congress.” They only vote for their individual congressmen. So good luck with the Alinsky tactics there, Barry.
Run against Congress all you want, but everybody knows you’re a stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure. Since we all can’t live in Paul Ryan’s district, “congress sucks” isn’t exactly a newsflash to most of us, you preening jackass. From right here in MA-4, home of Barney Frank, I enthusiastically agree and look forward to giving both of you the boot in 2012
Friday B-Movie Pick: The Perfect Weapon
Yup, it’s been 20 years since this martial arts action flick first hit the big screen. As martial arts films go, it’s fairly typical. So-so script, typical revenge plot with a prodigal son twist thrown in for flavor, and a cast of regulars in the genre. This was supposed to be the big break film for American Kenpo master Jeff Speakman. Didn’t quite turn out that way, but the karate scenes are good and the rest of the cast (which includes Mako and Professor Tanaka), make worth the rental, if you can find it.

Yes, I own both of those. No problem with Geek Cred here.
This is the same image I have loaded on flicker, just punched it up a bit.

The simple truth behind the “porkulus” acts
Filed under: economy, Obama Economy, Our Dear Leader, Politics
“The stimulus passed in February of 2009 didn’t go to shovel ready projects. Instead it propped up state and local governments that were broke. What didn’t go to governments was spent on projects without any regard for their return on investment. For example, green light bulb research might be a neat concept, but the short term return on investment is 0. You might even believe that green light bulb research will have positive economic effects in the future-but stimulus is designed to help us today so it’s still a stupid way to spend government dollars. Even if you think stimulus can work, it doesn’t because of politics. This phenomena occurs no matter which party is in charge.”
— Jeff Carter nailing it shut.
Mr. Carter goes on to present a simple, proven method used by both democrat & Republican Presidents to stimulate economic growth and job creation. A method that won’t be used as long as our Dear Leader is in the White House and Harry Reid and the democrats control the Senate. It goes against their so-called “progressive” policies, which they will blindly cling to regardless of how much damage they cause the country.

“At the height of the Great Depression, [President] Roosevelt avoided such a rating. So did other presidents during troubled times including Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and G.W. Bush. Yet, the news media are more interested with protecting a failed president than with informing American citizens about a troubling economic situation.”
Rick Santelli: If Not For Tea Party, U.S. Would Be Rated BBB
The “money” quote:
“Blame the Tea Party? Geez, no wonder Kerry did so well in an election. If it wasn’t for the Tea Party, they would have passed the debt ceiling thumbs up, we would have been rated BBB.”
Reality is clearly not her strong point
The DNC’s so called “spokesperson” Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is still on her long term vacation from reality.
The latest example is her claiming that “We’ve Really Begun To Turn The Economy Around.”
If she means that the democrats have turned the economy around by wedging it even further in the ditch he and the congressional democrats have wedged into with their Keynesian policies, then ya, she could be inhabiting the shared reality of rational adults, but I really don’t think that is the case.
Let’s review a couple of recent indicators of just how the American economy is doing.
Unemployment rose in more than 90 percent of U.S. cities in June
There is also the decrease in demand for manufactured goods, the recent downgrades in the GDP for the past year, and rising inflation.
If you want to spot check this, drive around your local town and see how many empty store fronts and office buildings there are. Are there more or less than there were a year ago? Unless you live in Texas, the answer is probably more.
NPR’s top picks for SciFi and Elf Porn
NPR has distilled the input they got for people’s top picks for SciFi & Fantasy down to 100 selections, and are asking people to pick their top ten. There is some utter dreck in the list, along with some of the true classics in the field.
Go vote, but if your choices don’t include Heinlein, Pournelle, Niven, or Farmer, just hang your head in shame.
