The other nominees…

There has been a lot of chatter about our Dear Leader winning the Nobel Peace Prize for completing Jack and Squat, including some flat out laughter from George Stephanopoulos, so I’m not going to focus on that.

Instead I want to look at the other people who were in the running for the prize.

Ingrid Betancourt. She was kidnapped by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) on 23 February 2002 and was rescued by Colombian security forces six and a half years later on 2 July 2008. The rescue operation, dubbed Operation Jaque, rescued Betancourt along with 14 other hostages (three Americans and 11 Colombian policemen and soldiers). In all, she was held captive for 2,321 days after being taken while campaigning for the Colombian presidency as a Green. She had decided to campaign in rebel controlled areas despite warnings from the government, police and military not to do so. Her kidnapping received worldwide coverage, particularly in France, because of her dual French citizenship.

Dr. Sima Samar,  she practiced medicine at a government hospital in Kabul, but after a few months was forced to flee for her safety to her native Jaghoori, where she provided medical treatment to patients throughout the remote areas of central Afghanistan.

In 1984, the communist regime arrested her husband, and Samar and her young son fled to the safety of nearby Pakistan. She then worked as a doctor at the refugee branch of the Mission Hospital. Distressed by the total lack of health care facilities for Afghan refugee women, she established in 1989 the Shuhada Organization and Shuhada Clinic in Quetta, Pakistan.

After living in refuge for over a decade, Samar returned to Afghanistan in 2002 to assume a cabinet post in the Afghan Transitional Administration. In the interim government, she served as Deputy President and then as Minister for Women’s Affairs. She was forced into resignation from her post after she was threatened with death and harassed for questioning conservative Islamic laws, especially sharia law, during an interview in Canada with a Persian-language newspaper. During the 2003 Loya Jirga, several religious conservatives took out an ad in a local newspaper calling Samar the Salman Rushdie of Afghanistan.

Dr. Samar publicly refuses to accept that women must be kept in purdah(secluded from the public) and speaks out against the wearing of the burqa(head-to-foot wrap), which was enforced first by the fundamentalist mujahideen and then by the Taliban. She also has drawn attention to the fact that many women in Afghanistan suffer from osteomalacia, a softening of the bones, due to an inadequate diet. Wearing the burqa reduces exposure to sunlight and aggravates the situation for women suffering from osteomalacia.

Hu Jia is an activist and dissident in the People’s Republic of China. His work has focused on the Chinese democracy movement, Chinese environmentalist movement, and HIV/AIDS in the People’s Republic of China. Hu is the director of June Fourth Heritage & Culture Association, and he has been involved with AIDS advocacy as the executive director of the Beijing Aizhixing Institute of Health Education.

Thich Quang Do: He has spent his entire life fighting for freedom of religion in Vietnam.  He has spent the past thirty years being exiled, imprisoned, and persecuted.

Spot on statement in reference to our Dear Leader

By way of Leslie Bates comes this spot on observation:

We should stop the comparisons [of Barak H. Obama] to Hitler. At least Hitler got the Olympics to come to Berlin.

Priorities

It’s clear to see where our Dear Leader‘s priorities are.  He has spoken with the General he personally place in charge of Afghanistan twice.  He has had over 30 meetings to try to get the 2016 Olympics held the crime ridden city of Chicago.

Why this mixed up set of priorities?  Simple, as the man who wrote the screenplay said, “Follow the Money!”

While the odds are that the city of Chicago is going to loose money hosting the Olympics, there will be people who get very, very rich off all the money that will be flowing through that city for that event.

Those people will be the political cronies of the Chicago democrat political machine.  The people who supported our Dear Leader going back to his days as a “community organizer” and they now have their hands out.  Paying off those political debts, with federal tax payer money, is clearly our Dear Leader‘s priority.

Sheading some light on ObamaCare

Reason Magazine presents some cold hard facts on ObamaCare:

The real reason Obama insists upon making the young and healthy buy insurance they don’t want is not the relatively minor free rider problem but the potentially ruinous adverse selection problem: The most expensive patients are the ones who are most likely to sign up for coverage. To keep the official 10-year price tag of his plan below that magical $1 trillion threshold, he needs to balance sick people who rack up big bills with healthy people who pay for insurance but don’t use it. Instead of acknowledging this reality, Obama portrays the healthy uninsured as irresponsible leeches.

Yup, here is a dose of reality for all those idealistic young folks who voted for Obama without a real clue of what he was actually planning, he just views you as a money source he can leech off to support his socialist policies.

Welcome to the farm, Coppertop.

ObamaSpeak vs Websters Dictionary

Kudos for George Stephanopoulos for asking a question that our Dear Leader clearly hadn’t vetted.  The White House will try and punish him for it, but as a former White House communications director himself, Stephanopoulos figures it’s probably worth the hit.

Let’s go to the video.

Stephanopoulos challenges our Dear Leader on his proposed tax on those who won’t sign up for government mandated health care, and our Harvard Law School educated President replies with ‘who are you going to believe? Me or that lying Webster’s Dictionary?’

Here is the money quote:

Stephanopoulos: “Under this mandate, the government is forcing people to spend money, fining you if you don’t. How is that not a tax?”

Obama: ” No, but — but, George, you — you can’t just make up that language and decide that that’s called a tax increase.”

Stephanopoulos: “I don’t think I’m making it up. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary: ‘Tax, a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes.'”

BHO can parse words in a manner that would embarrass Billy Jeff ‘It depends on what the meaning of is is” Clinton, but it won’t change the fact that his argument that the fine isn’t a tax is still fundamentally a lie.

The model for ObamaCare is the Massachusetts system, in which the state Internal Revenue Service determines if you have health care or not and adds any ‘fines’ to your state tax bill.

ACORN is in the news again

You may have missed this if you depend on the NY Times for news, but ACORN, an organization with long term ties to our Dear Leader, has been caught providing illegal tax and home loan information to a pair of undercover investigative journalists posing as a pimp and a prositutute.

ACORN was caught not just proving information to cheat on taxes, they also provided information on how to hide under aged illegal immigrant prostitutes from the authorities. This was not an isolated incident either.  This occur ed at three separate ACORN offices that we know of so far!

Illegal activity is nothing new for ACORN.  Here is a short list of some crimes that they have been involved in:

Our Dear Leader had this to say about his ties to this criminal organization:

“I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.” — Barack Obama, Speech to ACORN, November 2007

Keep in mind that all this criminal activity has been funded by your tax dollars!

That may change, the Senate voted yesterday to cut federal funding for ACORN by a 83 to 7 vote.

The seven who voted for continuing federal funding for an organization that supports child prostitution included both democrats from Illinois and the Socialist Senator from Vermont.

The other bit of good news that have come from this investigative journalism on the criminal organization ACORN, is that the Census department has severed ties with ACORN.

This is just a short list of ACORN’s criminal activities. Check out ACORN Watch for a more complete list.

UPDATE: New video from ACORN’s San Bernardino, CA office. This is number four, so far…

Liberal Logic

Liberal democrats who are trying to shove socialized medicine down the throats of the American people tell us that it will be “paid for” by eliminating at least $500 billion is “waste and fraud” in Medicaid and other government run health care systems already in place.

Let’s review this as rational adults. First, if the current government health care programs have $500 Billion in “waste and fraud”, how can any rational being decide that vastly increasing the government’s role in health care is a good idea?

Second, wouldn’t the first rational step be to clean up and recover that $500 Billion in “waste and fraud” in the current government systems in order to gain the trust of the American people before the federal government tries to take over 7% of the US economy?

Our Dear Leader and the so-called democrat “leadership” in Congress are doing neither of these.  Instead, they have tried to rush socialized medicine through the House and the Senate as quickly as possible, before the American people would have a chance to see what was being done to them.  Fortunately for the American people, that failed.

Grass roots opposition directly from the American people appears to have killed that 1000 page house bill that had so much wrong with it. That was a win for the American people and a loss for the far left extremist democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Obama throws RailRoad security under the bus

Michelle Malkin has the story on how the federal Rail Transportation Anti-Terrorism Unit has been dismantled by Team Lightbringer.

Amtrak’s Office of Security Strategy and Special Operations (OSSSO) grew out of a counterterrorism and intelligence unit developed by the Bush administration in the wake of global jihadi attacks on mass transit systems. The office was staffed with Special Forces veterans, law enforcement officers, railroad specialists, other military personnel, and experts who collectively possessed hundreds of years of experience fighting on the front lines against terrorism. Each member underwent at least 800 hours of rail security-related training, including advanced marksmanship, close quarters, and protective security exercises.

According to multiple government sources who declined to be identified for fear of retribution, OSSSO’s East Coast and West Coast teams have not worked in a counterterrorism capacity since the summer. Their long-arms were put under lock and key after the abrupt departures of Amtrak vice president for security strategy and special operations Bill Rooney and Amtrak Inspector General Fred Weiderhold.

Weiderhold played an instrumental role in creating OSSSO’s predecessor at Amtrak, the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU). He tapped Rooney to oversee the office. But Rooney was quietly given the “thank you for your service” heave-ho in May and Weiderhold was unexpectedly “retired” a few weeks later — just as the government-subsidized rail service faced mounting complaints about its meddling in financial audits and probes.

As I reported in June, Weiderhold had blown the whistle on intrusion of Amtrak’s Law Department into his financial audits and probes. A damning, 94-page report from an outside legal firm concluded that the “independence and effectiveness” of the Amtrak inspector general’s office were “being substantially impaired” by the Law Department – which happens to be headed by Eleanor Acheson, a close pal of Vice President Biden.

She has more details on this criminally incompetent dismantling of an effective part of our National Security infrastructure by our Dear Leader and his cronies. Read the whole thing.

This appears to be part of our Dear Leader‘s ongoing war against the federal Inspector Generals.
