Quote of the Day

Saturday, February 26th, 2011

Bill Whittle nails it shut with this observation:

“After the second amendment goes, the first will soon follow. Because if some social engineering genius determines that real people can’t be trusted with dangerous guns, then it’s just a matter of time until they decide they can’t be trusted with dangerous ideas either.”

Why are liberals so bad at history?

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Current case in point, Elena Kagan, whom our Dear leader wants to put on the Supreme Court.  In digging through what little paper trail she has generated, National Review has discovered that Ms. Kagan has compared the NRA to the KKK.

Let us review the basic history here, which Ms. Kagan is clearly unware of.

The National Rifle Association was formed after the Civil War by former Union Army officers to promote marksmanship.

The KKK was formed after the Civil War by former Confederate Army personnel to express their displeasure at people they still considered property conducting themselves as free citizens of the Republic.

One way the KKK expressed their displeasure was by murdering these new citizens of the Repubic.

Their victims reacted in a logical manner in a free society, they exercised their Constitutional protected rights to Keep and Bear Arms and defended themselves against the murderous thugs of the KKK.  The KKK didn’t like their victims to be able to shoot back, so they contacted their friends in the state legislatures to pass the very first “gun control” laws in the United States of America.

That’s right folks, the first so-called “gun control” laws were passed to protect the members of the KKK from the newly freed slaves they wanted to murder. The history of one of the left’s major policies, so-called “gun control” laws, is the history of violent racism in the United States.

So, either Ms. Kagan is woefully ignorant of American History, or she is deliberately ignoring  the facts in order to promote a political agenda that runs counter to the Constitution of the United States of America.  Either one is not a good sign in a potential member of the Supreme Court.

Quote of the Morning

Friday, May 29th, 2009

“Whether you like it or not, gun rights are civil rights. If you are against gun rights, then you are in the same pack as the Klan and the communists, and are as likely to vote to shut down churches and newspapers as you are to license and register guns.” — Guy Smith

Gun Crime drops in D.C. post Heller

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

That violent crimes committed by criminals with illegally obtained firearms has dropped since Washington, D.C.’s draconian anti-Civil Rights handgun ban was overturned should not be a surprise to anyone who actually studied the subject.
From the Washington Post Article:

The D.C. police department’s aggressive gun recovery efforts and the office of the attorney general’s coordinated emphasis on prosecuting gun-related crimes are showing strong results: In the past year, robberies with guns have decreased 12 percent; assaults with guns have decreased 14 percent; and overall violent crime has decreased by 5 percent in the District.

Hmmm…punishing the criminals and not the law abiding citizens seems to have a positive effect on society. Funny how the far left just can’t seem to grok that concept.

Monday Morning News

Monday, May 11th, 2009

First item, an armed home invasion/robbery/rape/probably homicide was stopped because one of the victims decided not be a victim and used his firearm to drive off the attackers.

A group of college students said they are lucky to be alive and they’re thanking the quick-thinking of one of their own. Police said a fellow student shot and killed one of two masked men who burst into an apartment.

HT to Stephen Kruiser. I searched for this story on CNN and couldn’t find it. If the criminals had carried out their plan of robbery, rape and murder, the story would have been at the top of the news cycle.

Next, is this AP story that show that the early “stimulus” funds for road repair isn’t going where it is needed most.

Counties suffering the most from job losses stand to receive the least help from President Barack Obama’s plan to spend billions of stimulus dollars on roads and bridges, an Associated Press analysis has found.

In the really bad news front, prices for coffee and sugar ‘could “explode” due to supply shortages,’ according to the Financial Times.

Not surprising is the news that Team Lightbringer is planning another $60 Billion in new taxes.

On the WTF front, Fannie Mae is hitting the government up for more taxpayer money after losing $23.2 Billion dollars. Why did the executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac get millions in bonuses? What it because they are supported by democrat members of Congress?

More lies from the left

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Remember that often repeated statistic that Mexican Drug Cartels were getting 90% of their firearms from legal sources of firearms in the US. That included that stuff you can’t buy legally, like grenade launchers and other military grade support weapons.

Hardly surprising, that “fact” repeated by the MSM was a lie. A lie told by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, CBS “News” own Bob Schieffer, and that well known opponent of Civil Rights, California democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein.

…68 percent of the guns that were recovered were never submitted for tracing. And when you weed out the roughly 6,000 guns that could not be traced from the remaining 32 percent, it means 83 percent of the guns found at crime scenes in Mexico could not be traced to the U.S.

The actual truth run contrary to the left’s agenda, so they ignore it. This is not new behavior.

Free NRA Membership

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

If you have browsed my site, you know I’m a strong supporter of Civil Rights, including RKBA.

The largest Second Amendment advocacy groups, the National Rifle Association, is conducting a membership drive and offering free memberships.

Given the attacks the current administration and congress are conducting against basic Civil Rights, including RKBA, joining the NRA is a good idea.
