Just in case your nerd cred is running low

Not a problem for me, but just in case your friends are getting a bit geekier than thou, I have the solution.

A Star Trek:TOS communicator that is a functional USB Microphone/Speaker device.

I kid you not nerdlings. You can plug this thing into your computer and use it with Skype and other VoIP apps, if you dare…

Ok, it would be cooler if it had a USB port instead of an attached cable. Perhaps in rev 2.0.

The Jennifer Morgue by Charles Stross.

It’s another tale from the “Laundry Files.” British Civil Servant Bob Howard is forced to save the world from the horrors of the “Old Ones” once again, while dealing with the mind numbing horrors of government bureaucracy at the same time. Stross pays tribute to the British institution of James Bond in this book as well.

This video is made of pure win.

Imagine the media outcry if G.W. Bush had made this mistake.

By way of Resist Tyranny comes this video:

As RT notes:

The teleprompter apparently displayed the word speled correctly: c-o-r-p-s-m-a-n. But he pronounced it “corpse-man.” Twice. Conclusion? Barack Hussein Obama is militarily illiterate.

This is just another example of how deep our Dear Leader‘s lack of experience runs, and how bad his teleprompter addiction is.

Update: Hot Air makes the probably spot on Ron Burgundy comparison.

Forbidden Planet

This SciFi classic hit the screen in 1956. It had a very good cast, including Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen as the dashing young spaceship Captain. It was also the first time Robbie the Robot was seen! Beware the Creatures of the Id!

With Apple’s announcement of the iPad and the Apple iBook store, people have been noticing the ongoing debate about e-books, e-readers and the ugly concept of DRM, which assumes that paying customers are thieves.

Joining the fray, is is Stephen Green, also known as the Vodkapundit.

Of course, I had join in.

Buy American

I’m going to plug an American product, and no, it’s not vehicles by the Ford Motor company, the only one of the “Big Three” automakers who didn’t take taxpayer money, and the only one to show a profit.

What I’m plugging is what is sitting right in front of me currently, Hawaiian grown coffee from Kona Joe. Joe has an interesting approach to growing coffee, he has taken a few tips from wine growers.

I typically buy either the Dark Roast or the Medium Roast. Whole bean of course. If you aren’t grinding your coffee beans right before you brew, you really should try it.

So, remember to “Buy American” when shopping for really good coffee!

BOHICA America!  Our Dear Leader is proposing $1.1 Trillion in new taxes. Kiss any idea of an economic recovery anytime soon goodbye!

Before you Fiscal Conservatives start complaining, remember that democrat House “leader” Nancy Pelosi needs your money so her family can fly on Air Force jets to avoid dealing with rabble like you.

Update: To go with that $1.1 Trillion in new taxes is $1.6 Trillion in new debt! Is this the Change you were Hoping for?  Probably not.

Live Free or Die by John Ringo.

Woot! This book was fun! Loosely based on the back story of the Schlock Mercenary webcomic, John Ringo has fun with classic SciFi concepts like First Contact, asteroid mining, and big nasty space Battlecruisers! He doesn’t think small either. Lots and lots of mirrors in space make great big solar powered Death Rays! Ringo is planning more books in this series and I’m hoping he goes E.E. “Doc” Smith big.

Deficit grows $90 billion a month under democrat rule

Daniel Foster points out the democrats spendthrift ways:

That means that over twelve years of Republican rule, there was an average annual budget deficit of about $104 billion. Compare that with an average annual deficit since 2008 of $1.074 trillion — or about $90 billion per month.

For those of you with bad math skills, let me sum this up for you.
Every month, the democrats come within 90% of increasing the deficit of what it took the Republicans an entire year to do.

Republican and fiscal conservative voters removed the Republican party from power because that party was spending too much money, putting a burden on the economy and not holding back government growth.

Independent fiscal conservatives, including many who are registered as democrats, are not going to reward the democrat party with their votes in 2010 for behavior that is much, much worse than what the Republican party did.
