Vice-President Biden and that whole Culture of Corruption thing.

Politico reports:

The Federal Election Commission has penalized Vice President Joe Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign $219,000 for accepting over-the-limit contributions and a discounted flight on a jet owned by a New York hedge fund. His campaign also was charged with sloppy record-keeping.

Sadly, I’m not surprised.

Obama’s track record

Jeff Miller has made a list of some of our Dear Leader’s promises and how he has followed up on them.

1. He campaigned against an insurance mandate and then gave us one.

2. He promised he wouldn’t hire lobbyists, and then hired at least 40 of them.

3. He promised to release logs of meetings between his staff and lobbyists, and then his staff started meeting across the street with lobbyists so it wouldn’t be logged.

4. He promised not to raise any taxes on families that make under $250,000, and then raised several taxes that apply to them.

5. He promised to post all bills on the internet for five days before he would sign them, and he’s broken this promise with nearly every bill he’s signed.

6. He promised not to tax health care benefits, and then signed a law that taxes health care benefits.

7. He promised to get us out of Iraq; not happening.

8. He promised to close Guantanamo; not happening.

9. He lied about the cost of his health care plan.

10. He promised to televise the health care negotiations, and didn’t.

11. He promised to veto all legislation with earmarks; he hasn’t.

12. He has bragged about continuing the Bush treatment of detainees.

13. He promised transparency and then prosecuted leakers.  (Plus, remember this?)

14. He lied about the public option.  And about a ton of other stuff.

15. Remembering signing statements?  Obama assumes you don’t.

16. Don’t ask, don’t tell?  Still in place.

And then there’s the other stuff, the silly and the sad, like the commissionsembarrassing issues of foreign etiquettelambasting tax breaks he voted forbribing people with job offers, bemoaning the iPod that he himself uses, his habitual invocation of straw men, his destruction of jobswasted moneythe cash-for-clunkers/housing-credit idiocy, the foreclosure plan folly, the fake fiscal restraintunemployment and the stimulus bill, and the fact that Obama’s policies redistribute wealth from poor to rich.

President Obama is not just a mediocre president; he’s not just a bad president.  President Obama is a terrible president.  He is a terrible president by any standard, but certainly by his own.  We were promised great things, and instead, we got just another lousy politician.

Sunday SciFi: Star Trek Phase II

I’ve mentioned this group of uber-fans before, but they deserve their own Sunday SciFi post.

Star Trek Phase II is an entirely fan produced continuation of the ST:TOS series.  It’s the brain child of James Cawley, who had a couple of bridge scene cameos in the latest Star Trek movie.

They have produced five (six if you count their first effort that they don’t list at their web site anymore, but I have on DVD) high quality episodes. Some of these episode have been written by ST:TOS writers, and/or have had ST:TOS actors in staring role, and one had a guest starring role by Denise Crosby.

The democrat’s Culture of Corruption marches on

This time it’s democrat Congressman Greg Meeks of New York.

Queens Rep. Gregory Meeks finally fessed up Friday night about why he decided to wait three years to pay back a $40,000 secret loan.

The Queens Democrat had been refusing to explain why he made no payments on the loan from Ahmad, a local businessman, until the FBI showed up.

He also did not disclose the loan on House documents in 2007 and 2008, as required.

Remember kids, democrat Speaker of the House “San Fran Nan” Pelosi said she would run the most ethical congress, evah!

Compare and contrast.   First Mort Zuckerman points out that our Dear Leader is is “anti-business.”

Of course, the talking heads at MSNBC, Mika Brzezinski and John Heilmann, were shocked by this. They certainly haven’t gotten that message from the instructions they get sent directly to their Crackberrys by the Obama White House.

Let us review the facts of the situation, after a year and half of our Dear Leader and the democrats controlling both both houses of Congress.

The facts of the matter are clearly obvious, as well as the sad truth that the MSNBC talking heads have to toe the Obama regime party line in order to keep their jobs.

Just a bad phone UI design

I had to pick up another mobile phone number, so I went looking for a basic phone to get to put it on. I called my cell provider, AT&T, and was pointed to the LG CF360. The physical design is good. It feels solid, the sliding is smooth and locks/unlocks easily. It’s got Bluetooth support and has a micro-SD slot.

The UI is an utter piece of crap, and that is an insult to crap, which can be put to good use as fertilizer.

It’s a fornicating phone, being able to access my call log would actually be useful, so what ever brain dead software “coder” working in what ever sweatshop he/she/it deserves to stay in decided to leave that functionality out.

If I ever get my Razr back from one of my kids, I’m moving the SIM card over to the Razr.
