Halloween Friday B-Movie Triple Play Day!
Time to wrap up the Halloween series with a triple play of classics.
Young Frankenstein, Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder wrote this amazingly funny movie. One of the comedy films of all time, and filmed in glorious Black and White with a lot of the original lab props from the first Frankenstein film.
Innocent Blood, vampires, mobsters, cops, comedy and casual nudity from Anne Parillaud. There is a lot to like in this film.
An American Werewolf in London, a lighthearted look of what can go wrong when you don’t stay on the road and don’t “ware the moon.” Just remember Jack, he didn’t mean to call you meatloaf. Big bonus: Jenny Agutter!
Monday Book Pick: Tokyo Suckerpunch
Tokyo Suckerpunch, by Isaac Adamson
The first of his Billy Chaka adventures. Billy is an American writer who covers the Japanese teen scene for American teenagers, and a student of wide range of martial arts. The stories are fast paced fun “urban noir” with Chaka delivering lines that would make Raymond Chandler proud.
The Fusion of Rap & Science
When you mix Science with Gangster Rap you get some damn funny music!

Friday B-Movie Pick: Hexed
Before she starred in Babylon 5, Claudia Christian did this fun comedy/horror film.
Friday B-Movie Pick: Bubba Ho-Tep
Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis star in this remarkably good indie film that features the residents of a senior home battling ancient evil from the Egyptian sands. Bruce Campbell plays an old Elvis Presley impersonator, who just might be the King himself!
Ya, I know, I missed last week, so a dose of Bruce Campbell should even things up!
Monday Book Pick: Fur and Loafing in Yosemite
Fur and Loafing in Yosemite by Phil Frank
The story of a family of bears in Yosemite National Park and how they deal with nature, campers and the National Park Staff. Very funny stuff. If you have ever been to Yosemite National Park, you will recognize a lot of what he’s poking fun at.
Funny even if you haven’t been there!
Friday B-Movie Pick: Man of the House
Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Archer star in Man of the House.
It’s a fun bit of fluff about a grizzled Texas Ranger responsible for protecting five Longhorn Cheerleaders. B-Movie bonus, it was written by my friend Scott Lobdell.
Bonus B-Movie points for identifying, without looking it up on the net, Anne Archer’s first movie.

Friday B-Movie Pick: An American Carol
Fourth of July Weekend Special! Crocumentary filmmaker Michael Malone wants to ban the “4th of July” and is visited by the Ghost of John F. Kennedy, who tells that he will be visited by three spirits.
Very funny, and a great cast, and of course the ghost of General Patton slaps the fat bastard!
