To be fair, that was what he said back in 2006, when he was a Senator from a fly over state with less than one year on the job. \u00a0Perhaps he was just dangerously incompetent. \u00a0On the other hand, there was a Republican in the White House back then, so perhaps he was just being the hyper-partisan political demagogue that he has proved himself to be time and time again. \u00a0On the gripping hand, it probably is both.<\/p>\n

The Washington Post had an article<\/a> that brought up this quote in the context of the current debt limit debate. \u00a0It said that Obama’s rhetoric then\u00a0\u00a0would be considered \u201ca bit Tea Partyish\u201d today. \u00a0Spin the standard media bias out of that statement, and it is more than a “a bit.” The article\u00a0also gives Obama an upside down Pinocchio for his current stance. \u00a0In their rating scale, that is \u201cA statement that represents a clear but unacknowledged \u201cflip-flop\u201d from a previously-held position.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
