The Washington Times reports:
Senators diverted $2.6 billion in funds in a defense spending bill to pet projects largely at the expense of accounts that pay for fuel, ammunition and training for U.S. troops, including those fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to an analysis.
Among the projects being funded at the possible cost United States Military Personnel lives is an educational institute named after the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, a Massachusetts democrat.
While most of the money taken from the operational military budget was from pork projects funded by democrats, there were some Republicans with their snouts in the pork trough, including the the two RINO senators from Maine.

The democrat’s “stimulus” bill has been proven to be what it was labeled when it was rammed through congress and down the throats of the American people, a “porkulus” bill. It was supposed to boost the economy, but has had the predictable, opposite effect.

“The report we got from the Department of Transportation is dated July 3rd,” said Mica at the Capitol Hill press conference. “It indicates how much money of the $48 billion [allocated to the Transportation Department] they have control over has gone out — that’s $523 million – 1 percent, approximately 1 percent. And the top 10 states of unemployment, our leading states, including the District of Columbia, only $83 million has gone out to those states.”
“This stimulus package was sold to the country as being an infrastructure bill,” said Rep. John ‘Jimmy’ Duncan (R-Tenn.), “and yet only somewhere between 7 and 8 percent of it was aimed at or provided for infrastructure in the first place.”

“Remember, the stimulus promised 3.5 million jobs was being created, and yet 2 million jobs – additional lost jobs – have been lost. Dismal failure.”
“The stimulus promised,” said Diaz-Balart, “and we were told that in the budget committee and we were told that publicly by the administration, that unemployment would not go above 8 percent if that stimulus passed. Look at the numbers now.”
Of course the democrat’s porkulus bill isn’t helping the economy. That isn’t what it was intended to do. The goal of the Obama administration is not to fix the economy, but to fundamentally change the role of government in the United States of America.

Two shining examples of the democrats Culture of Corruption for your reading pleasure.
First, former Senator John Edwards. You remember Edwards, served less than one term in the Senate before he quit going to work (but he still collected his taxpayer funded paycheck) to mount a failed run for the President’s office. That resulted in him being picked by the admitted war criminal, Senator John Kerry, as his VP running mate. After helping Kerry lose that election, Edwards ran for President again. He lost early and by wide margins that time as well.
During that second run, Edwards, who often ran with with Cancer Stricken wife Elizabeth by his side, also picked up a mistress and a kid.
Now his marriage and his mistress really isn’t much of a political story. After Billy Jeff Clinton and Jesse Jackson, a mistress or two is almost required for a serious democrat. Not a corruption story, but one of moral failing.
Where the corruption comes in is if Edwards spent campaign money to Rielle Hunter to keep her quiet about their relationship. Well, the feds are now investigating the matter.
Culture of Corruption, Part 2, involves democrat congressman John Murtha. Yes, Murtha of Pork Spending fame. According the the Washington Post, a company owned by Murtha’s nephew received “$4 million in Pentagon work, all of it without competition…” Isn’t that just special.
