What will it take for the MSM to call it a good month for Gov. Romney?

Sunday, September 23rd, 2012

First, let us review this chart of the Gallup tracking poll.  HT to the PJ Tatler

Now the left leaning MSM/DNC has been calling the past month a “bad month” for Gov. Romney.  I don’t think the word “bad” means what they think it means.

Keep in mind that this is the Gallup poll, not the historically more accurate Rasmussen poll.   It is also a poll of registered voters, not likely voters.  Add to that the historic trend of Gallup and most other polls over ratting Obama by several points.

Given all that, plus what is charitably called a “lackluster” recovery that is in danger of slipping back into a recession, it looks like polls, like this Gallup poll, are being carefully crafted to try and make the MSM/DNC label of a “bad month” for Gov. Romney appear to be true.  Even with them cooking the books, this polls shows a challenger running dead even with an incumbent President with the election less than two months away.

Keep in mind, most polls had Jimmy Carter, the worst President of the latter half of the 2oth Century, four points ahead of Ronald Reagan at this point in the 1980 election.

The rise of Libertarianism

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

The Cato Institute takes a look at the Gallup poll Bill Kristol used for this claim.

The Gallup poll released Monday shows the public’s conservatism at a high-water mark. Some 40 percent of Americans call themselves conservative, compared with 36 percent who self-describe as moderates and 20 percent as liberals.

Cato’s David Boaz notes:

The word “libertarian” isn’t well known, so pollsters don’t find many people claiming to be libertarian. And usually they don’t ask. But a large portion of Americans hold generally libertarian views — views that might be described as fiscally conservative and socially liberal, or as Gov. William Weld told the 1992 Republican National Convention, “I want the government out of your pocketbook and out of your bedroom.” They don’t fit the red-blue paradigm, and they have their doubts about both conservative Republicans and liberal Democrats. They’re potentially a swing vote in elections. Background on the libertarian vote here.

And note here: If you tell people that “libertarian” means “fiscally conservative and socially liberal,” 44 percent will accept the label.

As many self-described centrists (i.e. closet Libertarians :->) will tell you, the world is more than just black and white, or red or blue. There are people who are capable of independent thought and disagree with portions of what the two big political parties are trying to sell them.

A quick look at the polls

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Lots of interesting data over at Rasmussen today.

Only 29% of American voters are confident That Congress Knows What It’s Doing on Economy!

Only 22% of Americans think that Congress understands ObamaCare.

42% of American Voters Strongly Disapprove of our Dear Leader‘s performance, and total disapproval rating is up to 52%. We now have a majority of American voters who disgress with our Dear Leader!

Sixty percent (60%) of Americans say there is too much media coverage of our Dear Leader‘s personal life and family.  Here is some advice to the MSM, less noise, more signal.

Two Thirds of American voters think our Dear Leader is taking America in the wrong direction.

70% of likely American voters now favor a government that offers fewer services and imposes lower Taxes over one that provides more services with higher taxes!

Far left extremist democrat Congress critter “SanFran Nan” Pelosi’s unfavorables have risen to 64%
