Kickstarter fraud

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013

Let me start by saying I’ve had some excellent experiences with Kickstarter projects. The Traveller 5 project, Schlock Mercenary Challenge Coins,
The Chapin Sisters: A DATE WITH THE EVERLY BROTHERS,  and the Tactical Pen, just to name a few.

There has been noticeable failure. The Founders Playing Cards project. A beautifully designed set of playing cards that use the images of historical American political figures.  The project was created by one ‘John Slabyk.’  He claimed to have worked on the team that created the iconic Obama icon.  Say what you want about Obama’s politics, but the branding is impressive.

One small flaw in the plan. After collecting over $37,000 from approximately 1,000 backers, ‘John Slabyk’ dropped out of sight.  Just two posts, with no followups, no indication of the cards being manufactured, or any sign that ‘John Slabyk’ even plans on having them made.  The backers are not happy.  Legal action has been discussed.

If anybody knows this ‘John Slabyk’, ask him what he has done with the $37,000 of his backers’ money.

Update: Here is another article detailing John M (Markian) Slabyk‘s fraud: obama logo designer John Slabyk defrauds Kickstarter backers of over $37,000?

Update: Another references for Slabyk’s fraud.

Update: Yet another post of John Slabyk’s fraud.  This one mentions that he claims to be the head of the Obama campaign art department and advises you to contact the NY State AG’s office concerning Internet fraud if you have been scammed by John Slabyk.

Monday Book Pick: Fire With Fire

Fire With Fire by Charles E. Gannon

A near future SciFi adventure that reminds me favorably of Dr. Pournelle’s Future History stories. Smart characters, deep secrets nested inside other secrets, action, aliens, and more action. It sets the stage for multiple sequels, which is a good thing.

Monday Round Up

In the poster city for long term democrat reign, Detroit residents complain that packs of dogs terrorize citizens subjects.

The niece of “Plugs” Biden, i.e. the idiot a heartbeat from the Oval Office, is an addict and she blames Uncle Joe.

Far left extremist moonbat Nancy Pelosi, the so-called “Leader” of the House democrats, claims there is nothing left to cut from the federal budget.

First off, there hasn’t been a federal budget passed since George W. Bush was President.  Second, she’s an idiot.  Let’s start a short list of stuff and can be easily cut and will benefit the American taxpayer.

  1. The $2.2 billion Obamaphone program
  2. Supplying arms and funding to known terrorist groups in Syria
  3. The Department of Education
  4. Obamacare
  5. Fraud and Waste in the federal food stamps program
  6. Most, if not all, of the Department of Labor

The IRS really did have a ‘hit list’ that targeted conservative groups.  This can count as our Dear Leader keeping at least one of his promises.

Former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan is no fan of Barack Hussein Obama’s Tax, Barrow, and Spend policies.

File under: There is nothing quite as intolerant and closed minded as a “tolerant and open minded liberal.”

Violent online game lets players murder NRA officials by shooting them. It’s all the rage with the peace loving left who want to take firearms from the law abiding by force.

A look at the numbers

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

Today’s focus is on these numbers from a recent US Federal Census report.

Census Bureau report released on Tuesday reveals that the typical American family now earns less than it did in 1989. In 1989, median household income was $51,681 (in current dollars). In 2012, median household income was $51,017.

Poverty levels in 2012 also climbed to 46.5 million Americans–15% of the country–from 46.2 million in 2011. As Washington Post economics writer Neil Irwin put it, “This isn’t a lost decade for economic gains for Americans. It is a lost generation.”

That’s right.  This is the direction our Dear Leader is taking us.  He has prosperity stuck in reverse and is determined to stay the course.

The last Recession ended in mid-2009, but we are still waiting for the recovery that typically follows the end of a recession.

“Putin now just basically doing donuts in Obama’s front yard.”

Spot the racist

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013

As it has been noted, a lot of ‘celebrity’ so-called “peace activists” have gone missing.

One of the missing so-called “peace activists”, actor Ed Asner, explains that that really are against our Dear Leader’s Rush to War with Syria, but are not saying anything for fear of being labeled ‘racists.’

Let’s put this in simple terms for Ed and the rest of the Moonbats.   The Minister Farrakhan is taking Barack Hussein Obama to task over basic incompetence.  Cornell West, of Harvard University and former major BHO supporter, has called our Dear Leader a ‘War Criminal’ and stated that if he attacks Syria without Congressional approval, that is grounds for impeachment. The fact that BHO is in completely over his head and is, and has been, completely unqualified for this current position as POTUS, is not a race thing.  It’s an unqualified and incompetent thing.

So all you so-called “progressive liberals” can put on your big boy/girl pants (which ever you prefer), and take a lesson from Momma Moonbat and start protesting in front of the White House again.

Sunday SciFi: Doc Savage

Sunday, September 8th, 2013

I read my first Doc Savage novel, The Land of Terror, somewhere between mid 1970 and mid 1972.  I was living in Curundu at the time, and I remember buying it in Panama City.  Since then I’ve read most of the original 181 novels, PJF’s Escape From Loki, and a number of the newer ones written by Will Murry. I have two well read copies of Farmer’s Doc Savage: His Apocalypic Life. I have comics from both the Marvel and DC series.  I also own the George Pal “Man of Bronze” movie in glorious VHS.

Needless to say, I’m looking forward to a well done Doc Savage movie.  Shane Black, of Iron Man 3 fame, has obtained a green light for a Doc Savage movie.  So, high hopes for a really cool movie here. Have to say, I’m more interested in who he is going to cast as Doc’s cousin Patrica than Doc at this point.

Update: According to IMDB, Chris Hemsworth is rumored to play Clark Savage, Jr.   This would be fornicating awesome.

Update: IMDB now lists Dwayne Johnson as playing Doc Savage.  Which is also fornicating awesome.

A quick look at the jobs report

Saturday, September 7th, 2013

The Washington Post listed the five worst things about the recent federal jobs report.  They are all pretty bad, but let’s focus on #2

2) The unemployment rate dropped for the worst reason.Unemployment dropped to 7.3 percent in August. Huzzah? Sorry, but no.

There are two reasons the unemployment rate dropped. One is that people get jobs. Huzzah! The other is that people stop looking for jobs, and so they’re no longer counted as technically unemployed. That’s what happened here. The number show 312,000 people dropping out of the labor force. That’ll be revised, but if the truth is anywhere close, it’s horrible.

What Ezra Klein, the author of the article, doesn’t mention, is that this is the norm for the so-called “Obama recovery.” Every time our Dear Leader pivots to place his “laser like” focus on the economy, less Americans have jobs.

Either Barack Obama really isn’t that interested in creating a regulatory environment conductive to economic growth or he is massively incompetent and utterly unqualified for the office he currently holds.

Update: Unemployment for Black Americans under the reign of our Dear Leader jumps to 13%.

Update: The US labor force his Carter era lows.

Just how is that hopey-changey thing workin’ for ya?
