The left’s War on Women

Tuesday, October 28th, 2014

As I have pointed out before, if you want to know what the left is up to, just check what they are accusing others of.

Case in point, the so-called “War on Women.”

While giving a get-out-the-vote speech at a Florence, South Carolina political event, Democrat gubernatorial candidate, State Senator Vincent Shaheen, told cheering fans of his opponent, sitting Republican governor Nikki Haley, “We are going to escort whore out the door.”

A so-called “reporter” at CNN by the name of Carol Costello, got on her high hobby horse in defense of “violence against women” when a football player got caught on camera, but she found the story of Bristol Palin being assaulted a source of humor.    The hypocrisy of the left knows no bounds.

This double standard of the left, where they condone, and even support, violence against any woman who does not support their extremist agenda, is not new.

Conservative columnist Mary Katharine Ham wrote the following ten years ago in about her “liberal” friends response to threats of violence against her.

Why did I deserve it? Because I’m conservative, and to my liberal acquaintances, “conservative” is interchangeable with any number of fun words, like racist, homophobe,  warmonger, and bigot. Even my best liberal friends have refuse to let go of these one-dimensional definitions despite the fact that a three-dimensional specimen has been disproving all of them throughout our friendship. So much for nuance.

In short, I deserved it because I’m a conservative (wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) And when you’re dealing with people as dastardly as conservatives, anything goes.

This same rationale allowed liberal acquaintances to giggle when Ann Coulter was attacked by two young men with pies and shrug as former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris was almost run over. NOW and NARAL would be holding weekly violence-against-women awareness marches if the same had happened to Maureen Dowd and Hillary Clinton.

There was the New York Times’ dreams of an assassination attempt on President Bush and Ted Rall’s double whammy hit on the mentally handicapped and Bush voters. But then came Condi Rice’s appointment to Secretary of State. What a goldmine that was!

Suddenly, racism was an acceptable political tool. Jokes about Mammies and big-lipped caricatures were en vogue. Most of us got the memo that our culture deems these kind of attacks to be about as reprehensible as they get. Liberal cartoonists and commentators got that memo too. But there was no retraction from them, and not a peep from the NAACP or NOW.

Why no outrage? Because Condi deserved it. She’s a conservative, you know.

Calling Condi “Brown Sugar” becomes a reasonable criticism because she is a member of the Bush administration. A physical attack on Coulter is a laughing matter because she is a hawk. Tailing a female acquaintance on a dark night becomes a funny joke because she’s conservative.

It seems to me that this is not the path to a civil political climate or national healing, both of which my liberal friends want. To me, my liberal friends and acquaintances are folks who are a little too soft on national defense and a little too heavy on the government programs for my taste. They do not deserve physical or racist attacks for that, and I do not laugh when they happen. I wish they felt the same way about me.

Not Quite the Same Thing

Tuesday, April 8th, 2014

I heard some leftist trying to compare Hobby Lobby to Mozilla firing their CEO based on a political donation eight years ago.

There is a major difference that the leftist decided to ignore.

In the case of Hobby Lobby, the owners of the company are making  very public statement of their company policies based on their personal religious views.

In the case of Mozilla, the CEO was hounded out of office not for his actions as CEO.   He had made no public statement as CEO, or otherwise, about his stand on marriage laws.   He was attacked by activists outside the company for a private political donation made eight years ago.  A donation that should not have been available to the public.  It was known, because of an illegal leak of private IRS data.  A leak done to harm those who the leaker, a federal employee, disagreed with politically.

If the federal employee who leaked the information is every identified (and don’t hold your breath waiting for anyone in our Dear Leader‘s administration to pursue that), that person should be subject to criminal prosecution and civil prosecution from individuals harmed by their illegal actions.  The former CEO of Mozilla for example.

Attack of the 50 Ft. Democrats by R.K. Delka

R.K. Delka mixes a few genres in this story. Political satire, B-Movie SciFi Horror flicks, and a good dose of humor. Word of warning, anyone who cried in disappointment when Keith Olbermann was tossed off MSNBC won’t find this funny. People who pay attention to a wider spectrum of news will. While Mr. Delka approached this subject with tongue firmly planted in cheek, aspects of the story struck home with precision accuracy. The majority of the “mainstream” media giving up all pretense of objectivity to become ‘fan boys’ of a President who can’t be trusted to speak without a teleprompter (he messes up words with a silent ‘p’, just like President who said ‘corpsemen’, twice, while giving speech honoring US Navy Corpsmen) is one example. The more subtle one was the 50 ft democrats roaming the nation destroying sections of cities. They don’t need to be 50 feet tall to do that. Just look at Detroit. 50 years ago it was a thriving, vibrant city with one of the highest per capita incomes in the nation. 50 years ago was also the last time a Republican was involved in the city government. 50 years later, large sections of the city lies in ruins, the people are impoverished, almost half the streetlights don’t work, and the city is bankrupt. Attack of the 50 Ft. Democrats is funny, but it is also a warning. Congressional democrats may not actually have the brand of certain billionaire who spends orders of magnitude more money than the Koch brothers, but they are certainly more under the influence of his money than they are the votes of the people they are supposed to represent. So laugh away, but pay attention to the message, which includes this, It Is Not Too Late. Oh, and he set the stage for a sequel. So expect more adventures featuring the former US military fighter pilot turned politician.

Sunday Round Up

Sunday, May 5th, 2013

Here is collection of interesting items I put in my “blog about” file but didn’t get to.

Let’s lead off with some Blue on Blue media attacks.  George Soros’ bought and paid for thugs at Media Matters attacked the uber-liberal reporters at NPR for committing an act of Journalism.  Chana Joffe-Walt did a story on that covered the fraud and corruption in the federal disability program on Chicago’s Public Radio This American Life and National Public Radio’s (NPR) All Things Considered.  Ms. Joffe-Walt apparently forgot about the memo that said that all news stories must praise our Dear Leader and blame Republicans.

Jon Stewart, a fairly reliable talking head for the extreme far hard left agenda, ripped in our Dear Leader for basic incompetence on his handling of the obscenely long backlog at the Veterans Administration. Gee, it’s almost as if Obama sees US military veterans as his enemy and is trying to kill them off.

Obamacare’s PR Problem: Not Just a Flesh Wound

Megan McCardle points out an annoying fact that leftists don’t like: The Aaron Sorkin Model of Political Discourse Doesn’t Actually Work

Democrat congressman Stephen Lynch on Benghazi Talking Points: ‘It Was Scrubbed … It Was False Information. There’s No Excuse For That.’  Yup, the Obama regime flat out lied the American people for the purpose of  “damage control” prior to the election.  This really does call for hearings.

Chicago Law Prof on Obama: “The Professors Hated Him because he was Lazy, Unqualified & Never Attended any of the Faculty Meetings” Hmmm…doesn’t sound like his work habits changed much.

Quote of the Day

Thursday, April 4th, 2013

“Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.”

— Mary Frances Berry,  former Chairwoman, US Commission on Civil Rights.  Clearly she has a basic misunderstanding of the actual meaning of Civil Rights. Given that she was appointed by that idiot James Earl Carter III, this is hardly surprising.

Note that she freely admits there is no factual basis for her accusation of racism.  It is merely a tactic of the radical left to avoid discussion on their own failures.

Quote of the Day

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

“Haven’t you noticed this? The American left is always waxing hysterical about right-wing violence and the true violence always comes from the American left. The American news media cry out in horror at peaceful Tea Party demonstrations and look the other way when Occupy Wall Streeters commit vandalism, rape, and even murder. The media try to pin any political assassination attempt on conservatives; yet almost all American political assassinations are committed by the left… . Leftism requires this illegitimate use of force — this use of violence — because free individuals simply will not do what leftists, in their wisdom, have decided is right and good.”

Roundup

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

Today’s roundup post is by Jonah Goldberg:

Democratic senator hired an unpaid intern who was an undocumented immigrant but a documented sex offender. Apparently Senator Menendez needed an immigrant to do sex offending that Americans won’t do.

Meanwhile, Representative Jim Moran is “embarrassed” by the revelation that his voter-fraud-orchestrating son smashed his girlfriend’s face into a garbage can and pleaded guilty to assault. The girlfriend appears to be doing what she can to make the story go away. But don’t worry, the phrase “war on women” may still only be used to describe people who don’t want to pay for someone else’s birth control. No word if anyone on the left will be expressing their gratitude for the Violence Against Women Act for this.

Over in Michigan, defenders of the union protestors who tore down an Americans for Prosperity tent are heading toward trutherism, suggesting that it was all a set up, the canvas-and-rope equivalent of the Reichstag fire. No word yet if anyone is claiming the Jews inside the tent got advance notice.

Oh, and after months — nay years — of rhetoric from the president and his proxies about how taxes are simply a sign of neighborliness and the dues we pay to live in this great country, we learn that Obama’s staff owe nearly a million dollars in back taxes.

And the Republicans are losing to these guys.

HT to Mr Reynolds, who is correct in his assessment.   Just another example of how you would rarely loose money betting on Congressional Republicans to screw the pooch.

Quote of the Day

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

“Barack Obama has been a terrible president in many ways, but perhaps his most poisonous legacy is his cynical fomenting of partisan hate to advance his own political interests. After three years, we have learned that ‘hope’ is not the word that we should associate with the Obama presidency.”

Quote of the Day

Monday, March 5th, 2012

The “anti-war” “left” was used by the Democratic Party. I like to call it the “anti-Republican War” movement.

While I agree with you about the hypocrisy of such sites as the DailyKos, I have known for a long time that the Democrats are equally responsible with the Republicans. That’s why I left the party in May 2007 and that’s why I ran for Congress against Nancy Pelosi in 2008.

Cindy Sheehan

How did the tolerant and opened mined liberals in the far left extremist Nancy Pelosi’s district react to Ms. Sheehan running against their sitting Congressional rep?

They slashed the tires on Cindy Sheehan’s van.
