This is the first book in the Manticore Ascendant series, which is a prequel series to the Honor Harrington series. It takes place in the early days of the Manticoran Star Kingdom, when the Manticoran Navy was not so powerful or well funded. It took a couple of chapters to get me hooked, but one it picked up, I didn’t want to put it down.
A classic example of the Screwball Comedy genre from the 1930s and 1940s. The absolutely stunning Veronica Lake plays a Witch who was burned at the stake in Salem, MA, but not before she cursed the Wooley family who identified her as a witch. 270 years later, she’s back and decides to torment the current Wooley, who is running for governor of Massachusetts and is engaged to a shrew (because of the curse). A comedy of errors results in her falling in love with him!
Jonah Goldberg makes the following accurate observation:
When someone asks, “Wouldn’t it be great to have a female president?” the correct answer, with varying degrees of enthusiasm, to be sure, is “Yes.”
When asked, “Wouldn’t it be great to have Hillary Clinton as president?” The correct answer, again with varying degrees of enthusiasm, is “Oh, dear God, no. No, no, no. No.”
What Hillary Clinton is trying to do is to make these questions synonymous. If you’re against having Hillary Clinton as president, you’re against having a woman president. It was a game that Barack Obama played with some sophistication. The “Ready for Hillary” crowd is about as subtle as a case of the clap.
One of the shining qualities of Creepy Uncle Joe, the current Vice-President, is that he will occasionally let the truth slip from his mouth.
Yup, the past six years have been really, really hard for America. That is what you get for letting an admitted socialist run the federal executive branch.
Clearly, the so-called “economic policy” of our Dear Leader and the Congressional democrats have hindered economic growth, which is not a surprise to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention. It’s a tribute to the robustness of the American economic engine that there has been any growth under the Obama regime’s anti-growth policies of massive tax hikes, “wealth distribution”, and record setting levels of crippling federal debt ($18.1 Trillion and climbing).
As we have noted before, when the president says “it bypasses the United States,” he leaves out a very important step. The crude oil would travel to the Gulf Coast, where it would be refined into products such as motor gasoline and diesel fuel (known as a distillate fuel in the trade). Current trends suggest that only about half of that refined product would be exported, and it could easily be lower.
…
Finally, note that Obama said Keystone was just for Canadian oil, and “we should be focusing on American infrastructure for American jobs and American producers.” But actually, Keystone would help U.S. oil producers in North Dakota and Montana. TransCanada, the builder of the pipeline, has signed contracts to move 65,000 barrels a day from the Bakken area –and hopes to build that to 100,000. That’s nearly 10 percent of the region’s production.
So not only is Barry lying, he’s repeating lies. As the Washington Post article, reports from the State Department show that he is lying.
Andrew Breitbart tells the story of his transformation from clueless college student majoring in (anti-)American Studies to a warrior for the Constitution and for honesty in reporting from the main stream media. He explains in detail about collaboration between the DNCand the Media Complex (which includes TV News, print magazines and the film industry) and how to use new media to combat them and win! In chapter 7, he lays out his game plan for fighting the left in details some of the highlights include: Don’t be afraid to go into enemy territory; Don’t let the Complex use its PC lexicon to characterize you and shape the narrative; Ubiquity is key; and Truth isn’t mean. It’s truth. Leftist will try to talk about “your truth” and “their truth”, which is bullshit. There is just the truth.
